I didn't see him complaining about belts when he fought Martinez. Plus if there were 1 champion per division(as it should be) he would have never held a title at 160. I see he is still mad because he had to pay GGG not to fight him. The fear was apparent when Kellerman asked him about GGG.

The are 4 sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) recognizing 5 champions per weight class (WBA Super, WBA Regular, WBC, IBF, WBO). With 17 weight classes in boxing, that makes 85 champions. And that's before we start counting interim champions (there are currently 14), in recess champions, emeritus champions, etc. And that's before even getting into minor bodies like the IBO, IBA, etc.
85 champions in boxing. Most of the dumb****s on this forum can't even name 85 boxers. And we have 85 champions. Miguel Cotto has a point.
With that said, that is no reason to avoid the #1 MW in the world. Those are two different arguments entirely.Comment

Here come all the GGG fan boys to talk about everyone ducking him...
In reality what Cotto is saying here is correct. There are way to many belts/champs. And that has taken away from the sport.Comment

This is no joke. Even my girl was saying there is too many champions. It seems like every fight we watch in every weight class there is a title or interim title on the line, which devalues the belt when everybody is a champion.
There are so many belts out there right now in each weight class, I forget which fighter has which belt. They should for sure get rid of all these damn belts, and just have ONE main belt for that weight class so the person who is holding that ONE main belt is the man in that division.
When you get to a certain level belts don't hold as much weight as a big fight, period. People Much, much rather see the best fight the best with out a belt on the line, than a scrub fight a good fighter with the belt on the line.Comment

LMAO does he really want to get into what's hurting boxing...like for real real? Maybe we can start way back when they dangled a check in front of an ailing Martinez which had he not would've eliminated all that has unfolded since. Names buying titles is what's hurting the sport, promoters buying their fighters titles is what's hurting the sport, those same champions don't go on to be champions for the most part, they become overnight businessmen.Comment
