ditto and ditto. I would not mind seeing this fight. But there is no effing way I would pay to see it. Not PPV worthy,....at all. The way I see it, if you lose twice on a PPV event (such as Cooto has), you've kind of lost your ppv luster and attraction. Greedy prima donna boxers and greedy money hoarding promoters are both to blame for the declining popularity of the sport of Boxing. As stated by another poster, it is time for the new guard of boxers to enter the scene and set the old horses out to pasture.

If the money's not big enough for you, move on Bob and let the guys fight

Consider the matchup, there should be a pretty good way to work and project out the potential business for Cotto-Marquez, with things to be divided up among the parties likely willing to take the bet, Miguel Cotto (MC Promotions, but the work largely done by Roc Nation) and Juan Manuel Marquez (Zanfer Promotions).

Like any major fight, divvy up the pot; Zanfer Promotions gets the Mexican/Latin American rights to the fight (which they can sell as they wish), Miguel Cotto Promotions gets the rights to the fight in Puerto Rico, and Roc Nation (on behalf of Zanfer Promotions and Miguel Cotto Promotions) looks to maximize the TV revenues in the UK/Germany/Europe/Canada/Australia/China/etc, goose the sponsorship opportunities on the fight, move the fight to whatever venues lays out the biggest site fee/gives them the best chance to make the most money, and possibly even shopping the US TV rights on the fight (HBO isn't the only outfit that can host PPV).

Cotto-Marquez isn't a gigantic fight, but it's still got the makings of a pretty big event (though it'll likely not get made for Mexican Independence Day weekend, Mexico vs PR is still a big rivalry, both fighters are well known throughout the boxing world, it's a meaningful fight for the two fighters and their audiences, and it's an adamantly competitive fight (Cotto is 5'7 with 67" reach, Marquez is 5'7 with 67" reach, and the weight difference is likely about 10lbs when both guys are primed and fit to fight; Puerto Rican bull versus Mexican matador); you just need to put the pieces together.

Fight card from some venue, on PPV (Sept/Oct 2016):
Miguel Cotto vs Juan Manuel Marquez
Miguel Berchelt vs TBD (WBO 130 title)
      Dusty Harrison-Hernandez vs TBD
[novelty open: PR's Amanda Serrano defending her belt; #getLouonthephone]

      undercard fights:

      RN
      Zhilei Zhang vs TBA
      Luis Arias vs TBA
Orlando Del Valle vs TBA (PR)

      ZP
      Jose Zepeda vs TBA
[two other fighters under the Zanfer banner]

The PPV business has not been booming in the last few years because promoters like Arum and De La Hoya have been putting garbage like Pacquaio/Algieri and Alvarez/Angulo on PPV. PPV should be reserved for the biggest stars in the biggest fights, but 90 percent of the PPVs over the last three years have been garbage fights.

In spite of what a lot of people like to claim, the poor PPV performances of late has nothing to do with Mayweather/Pacquai and has everyting to do with garbage like Mayweather/Berto, Pacquaio/Bradley and Golovkin/Lemieux.

They got enough big money for nothing lately , they should leave the sport and make room for the new guys to be pushed by the networks , great carrers but no doubt that they are on the decline for a while now and DO NOT deserve the biggest purses in the sport anymore from boxing pov , from WWE maybe still.

This fight is such a miss match at this stage. Marquez is very old rusty and will not sell. This fight does not happen. If it was going to happen it would have been signed by now. Cotto just stood in with a prime Canelo in a very close fight. Marquez would have ended up like Khan in a fight with Canelo. I do not want to see this fight.

Give me Cotto vs Garcia, Cotto vs Canelo 2, Cotto vs Brook, Cotto vs any one. No one say Tim Bradley because he gets wrecked. **** give me Cotto vs Broner to get blown out the water.

Marquez is defiantly in a decline. Cotto just gave the prime guy in the sport hell. Calm down. Cotto is not what he was but he still beats 90% of the young blood wanna be stars in the sport.

Alas, this is exactly what I feared; Arum seems like he has no intention of working with Cotto again. It looks like the fight won't get made, unless Cotto and Marquez give Arum a way to have Top Rank make a larger-than-deserving profit off of it. He's playing hardball. So, it's take a pay-cut or no fight, right now.

It's reached the point where Arum looks to be even selling his own fighter (Marquez) short. Is this how badly Arum wants to avoid doing business with Cotto? Wow.

Cotto's potential opponents for June that were Arum's fighters were "busy." First June, now fall? -_-
