Cotto is going to drain himself at 147 to face a steroid-head who hasn't fought in years and has done nothing significant since lightweight besides fight Pacquiao... and is 43???

Apart from the PPV sales because of Mayweather and Pacquiao... and little numbers he did against Barrera because of Barrera... what has Marquez done on his own to make himself think he's a PPV attraction?

Pointless fight where a promoter is trying to just put two names together...

Another reason that UFC is a superior product.. the next guy in line gets the shot in the UFC or he'll get the shot after 1 interim-fight at the most...

Boxing, you'll be lucky once a year to see a clear 1 fight the clear 2 in a division ever..

Maybe - Kova v. Ward will happen if Ward is finally done cherry-picking for years now... boxing is all about names vs. names.

I know there are a lot of Haymon Haters out here, but let's think about it for a second. If we're getting Thurman vs. Porter for free on CBS, should we pay for Cotto vs. Marquez? Should we have to pay for Crawford vs. Postol? Really? There are 2 PPV worthy fights: GGG vs. Canelo and Kovalev vs. Ward. Is there any other fight worthy of a PPV event in 2016?

I don't think fans should have to pay for any fight, but I'll buy Crawford vs Postol 10 times before I buy Cotto vs Marquez or Canelo vs [insert welterweight]. If Povetkin never tested dirty and Wilder went on to win that fight I think Fury vs Wilder would have been an easy sell, still should be considering the **** fights Matchroom has been putting on PPV in the UK.

It's the sign of the times. Boxing is in trouble. Pay per view numbers have been on a decline for several years now. In addition, to the different promoters not working together in order to give the boxing public the bouts they want to see. Also, with the retirements of both Floyd and Manny and HBO scaling back its boxing budget and couple that with the PBC business model of over paying for their fighters, it's no wonder the sport we all love is experiencing such an economic crisis.
