  • Comments Thread For: Flanagan vs. Fana Set As Chief Support To Fury-Klitschko Rematch

Manchester's Terry "Turbo" Flanagan (30-0, 12 KOs) meets South Africa's Mzonke Fana (38-9, 16 early) at the Manchester Arena on July 9 in the third defense of the WBO lightweight title that he won in July of last year.

The bout will serve as the chief support to the World heavyweight championship rematch between defending divisional king Tyson Fury and former ruler Wladimir Klitschko.

"It doesn't get any bigger than fighting as chief support and right before the lineal heavyweight championship of the world," said Flanagan.

Barrera abused this guy over a decade ago, at a lower weight. Utterly pathetic. Hard to take Flanagan seriously when Warren can't land him a meaningful fight.

42 years old and 2 defeats to random nobodies in the past year. Waiting to hear Warren spin this in the same article where he talks **** about the opposition of all the Brit fighters who aren't signed with him.

I stopped reading after I read the line about this challenger fighting in the UK in 1999!!! and losing, and now this is the man who Flanagan is defending against?? British boxing fans are smart I am curious as to what the feedback is for this match up. It seems like Flanagan is going to follow the "Kell Brook How to be a Champion guide".

Is this why England has so many titlists currently? Selective matchmaking?

he's not even a real world champ in my book. the zepeda fight should of been a NC and a rematch should of been ordered.

In a sport of pathetic mismatches, a "title defense" against a feather-fisted 42-year-old best known for being KO'd in two rounds by Barerra 11 years ago, who has never won outside of South Africa, ranks up there. If WBO and Flanagan's promoters had any shame, they wouldn't allow this, but of course they will and when he wins by a sickening KO, the fanboys will talk about how impressive it all was. A real Sauerland fight in England
