Oscar and Golden Boy are going to have to come to some realization that they lost this battle. Unless they got some ace up their own sleeve. They will end probably losing all the money they made off the Khan and Cotto fights but Canelo will still be their fighter.
In the short term it hurts their business but in the long term they will be fine.
My guess Canelo was probably a 19 to 20 year old and Golden Boy Promotions came knocking, and he was probably like look I'm sorry but that just a better opportunity than All Star Boxing. Look at everything that Golden Boy has been able to do for Canelo Under Armour Commercials, the cover of ESPN, his own Tecate commercial, not to mention all the big fights he has gotten and All Star Boxing really think they would have been able to get Canelo all that in what 5 years. HIGHLY DOUBTFUL.
Boxing is still and will always be a cut throat business with a whole lot of skeletons in the closet. Let this be a lesson to all promoter's (especially if they lose) to make sure that you cover all your tracks before signing a fighter. Same with fighters be smart with who you sign with because in the sport promoters and who you are with matter.
