I don't trust the judicial system often, but it looks like they have very little choice here. They are going to have to give him something, whether its just the money and Canelo continues to work with GB or a clean break. GB isn't take the judicial system rich, if they were they would still be able to postpone this.

Wow that's disgraceful behaviour....I know none of us likes promoters and managers contracts and stuff...but in all walks of life we have contracts so it protects either side form being let down or f@cked over with money...and I think we all recognise when somebody or a company acts like a vulture or acts morally wrong and then voice our disgust....u had hoya moaning about Schaefer and what he did to goldenboy with the fighters being signed to Haymon and now he's done the same to this guy....disgusting behaviour and I hope justice prevails in this and they stop CANELO fighting for golden boy

Zabala's got a big problem though. There's no copy of the contract in Spanish nor is there any proof that a court-certified interpreter was there to explain to Canelo what he was signing.

If Canelo gets up there and says, "no comprendo" (which he will) they'll have no way to prove their case. Lack of legal capacity to form a contract voids a contract.

Golden Boy's defense is that Canelo signed a contract in English but didn't speak English. But they showed a contract with not only Canelo's signature but also his manager, Chepo Reynoso, signature. So even if Canelo didn't speak English the contract should've been explained to him by Chepo. This isn't looking good for Golden Boy

The article says the last fight was against Larry Mosley but it was actually against Lanardo Tyner, from Detroit, in December of 2009. I remember talking to him about that fight. But the reason I bring that up is because the fight is on youtube and shows that this wasn't some small hall promoter, fighting in backrooms of the Holiday Inn. They had Canelo fighting in front of sold out crowds and on national Mexican TV. I can see how they feel they lost out on $27 million. Check out this fight.

Lack of fluency of English isn't the same of lack legal capacity. In fact, the two things have nothing to do with each other.
