This is a tough one to answer. Pacquiao had the more explosive style, the better offensive skill set and superior physical gifts. Along with more world titles across more weight divisions.

Having said that, Chavez Sr was the superior defensive fighter, possibly higher ring IQ, a very good resume and he was THE MAN over a next ended period of time across3 divisions. That last point is something which has not been achieved by any other fighter since and is unlikely to be replicated in modern boxing.

Pac not even close. Chavez is great but really overrated by fans.

Voted for Manny. A better question is if Manny would have beat Chavez at his peak, which is far from a given.

Pac was scared of needles, NON-Reyes gloves, bad socks, and Mayweather. He used PEDs and when he stopped using them his power left and started losing fights.

Chavez had the better career. Plus he ****** Salma Hayek and Thalia. All Pac had was Jinki and Filipino ****** hookers.

so TBRB is the truth. manny 5 weight lineal champion.
sorry bro...the division was wide open...both Pacquaio and Bradley recent losses before they fought, while guys like Thurman and Brook remained undefeated and other fighters in the division made strides.

They were not 1 and 2....leonard and hearns were 1 and 2....oscar and tito were 1 and 2.....mayweather vs pac was 1 vs 2...not bradley vs pac 3

pacquaio cant be the only fighter in history whose ranking isnt affected by losses. The guy is 4-3 in his last 7 fights with the only win being over a top ten welterweight is bradley in the last 5 years...the rest were guys moving up

Manny was not number 1 by the time they fought.

It shows what pathetic state the sport is in. WBA(all versions), WBC, IBF, WBO, RING and LINEAL. Good lord. It's a wonder we haven't had several 8 division champions. Ridiculous.

Both are great fighters and they're about the same skill-wise, maybe Chavez a lil bit better.

Career-wise, I have to go with Chavez for his win over Meldrick Taylor. Meldrick Taylor, like Olympic gold medalist Davey Moore before him, was touted as the next Sugar Ray Leonard. He was going to take over the boxing world and become the next big thing. But Chavez put an end to that in one of the most greatest comeback fights of all time.

floyd retired. so manny was #1 and bradley who was previously #3 became #2. i think i trust TBRB (a large group of respected writers) over some random on the internet.

manny pacquiao = 5 weight lineal champ.

accept the truth and move on with ur life please.

Pac had the better career and he would have decisioned Chavez at any weight.
