Is Canelo just a blown up Welterweight?

Let me first say I am not a Canelo fan. So with that out of the way, I love the strength and conditioning aspect of boxing. Canelo is 5'7", sure he has a big frame but I think a properly trained and dedicated Canelo would/should barely becoming into his own at Jr. MW right now in his career. I look at boxings elite and they don't blow-up between camps, they stay in the gym (cardio freaks of nature), and their trainers are not scarfing down tacos in front of their fighters during training camp. Makes me wonder how dedicated Canelo and his team really are to training. Can't really blame anyone but Canelo and his team for biting off more than they can chew for fighting at MW way to early in his career. Personally a dedicated Canelo Alvarez should only be fighting at MW in the twilight of his career not at 25. MW's are big men, most are around 5'10" with just as big a frame as Canelo, difference is guys like GGG stay in the gym, fight often and dont let themselves go. Thoughts?

IDK man look at Tim Bradley, his back is probably the same size as Canelos, difference is Tim stays dedicated between camps, dudes a gym rat, he may gain a lot of weight too but the difference is Tim's weight is muscle.

Yup, they (his team) shouldve thought about that before they went to grab that MW title, now its all backfiring.

Hagler was about the same size as Canelo right?

Blown up welterweights don't go into the ring at 170+. Canelo might not be that tall but he has a very thick frame. That said his style wont transfer well to 160 and 168. He won't be able to counter punch opponents that have the reach advantage on him.

Hagler had like a 76 inch reach lol his frame was a lot more suited for MW than Canelo who if I am not mistaken has about a 69inch reach. I can agree height doesnt always play a factor but that more in the smaller weights MW is where the big boys play, that leverage of beiong taller or having longer arms is a huge advantage.
