Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Kovalev Will Be Too Much For Andre Ward!

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight king Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, believes Andre Ward (29-0, 15KOs) needs several more fights to properly prepare himself for a fall showdown with WBO/WBA/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (29-0-1, 26KOs).

I know you've only got a limited amount of characters for the thread title but seriously..

I mean, not only is that title inaccurate it misses the the biggest thing to come out of this interview. Sanchez was actually being reasonable and complimentary towards Ward. Seriously, who knew he had it in him?

Ward has a great amateur back ground, has skills and is smart. kovalev is a great fighter himself and has never been in there with a guy like Ward. its going to be a great fight whenever it happens.

I also think that Ward will not fight Kovalev in 2016.

Im going to put my faith in Ward and say he's going to fight Kovalev this fall. He hasnt lost a fight since around his 14th birthday and I don't think hes scared of Kovalev. That said, I agree with Sanchez assessment. I think Andre can beat him, but I think Sergey will win due to Wards inactivity over the last few years and I dont think hes acclimated to 175 yet. Its a great fight that I hope we get to see. Neither one of those men is the chicken shiz like Saul Alvarez.

Ward should try and push the fight to the middle of next year concede $. He should have tuneups every month and do what atlas and others have done set up gym fights with top young guys. A ward as fine tuned as when he cleaned out SM easy beats Kovalev a semi rusty Ward will have it down to the wire
