I think Mayweather is a fraud but I actually won't criticize him for this. Sure a real ATG champ would be calling out GGG, and would have fought Khan already (who I think would have beaten Floyd, styles make fights) but Mayweather has succeeded in keeping my expectations low, so I would love to see this. Mcgregor has little boxing skill but at least he's in his physical prime with a good physical skill set. When is the last time Mayweather fought someone in their physical prime, without draining them (that will be the only issue. Fight should be at 154 if Mcgregor is expected to fight 12 rounds. He could only make 145 because UFC is a shorter fight), who had offensive talent?
I can't remember when Floyd has really ever fought someone like that. Does it suck that he has to pick an MMA fighter for us to finally see him fight someone in their prime, not drained, who has power and a little bit of speed and isn't a midget next to Floyd? Yes, but that's Floyd for you. He will always make sure to get himself a huge advantage. In the past he's already picked or put opponents at physical disadvantages, and we've seen that so many times. This time he's putting his opponent at an experience and craft disadvantage, but most Floyd opponents have craft disadvantages anyway. At least this time we'll see something different, and if Connor can learn how to cut off the ring, and if he can walk through Floyd's punches since he will definitely get hit, then maybe we might see more of a fight than Berto, anyway.
I'd prefer Floyd fight GGG, but compared to Danny Garcia or Andre Berto, I'd much rather see Floyd fight someone like Mgregor who at least has some skills and power, even if he doesn't have the experience.
