Even WADA is saying Povetkin's A sample was under the allowed limit. That means he never failed the test. Let's wait to see whether the B sample was under the limit, but if it was, Wilder deserves so much backlash because he was eager to cancel the fight over Povetkin's A sample when Povetkin's A sample is perfectly legal!

It's looking more and more like Wilder just ducked the fight, straight up. I know some people won't like to hear that because they just heard "positive test" from Wilder's camp and didn't look into the facts themselves, but it says right there in the article, the A sample was under the allowed limit, a passed test.

Sample A revealed that the body system of the 36-year-old Russian fighter contained a low concentration of 0.07 micrograms.

However, on April 13, WADA announced that the concentration of less than one microgram of meldonium in the body system of an athlete, whose doping tests were conducted before March 1, was acceptable.
For everyone who's not good at math, let me explain. 0.07 micrograms is actually less than 1 microgram.

I'm sure WADA set it up like this because they knew there was an unknown amount of time trace amounts could stay in an athlete's system from when it was legal to take last year, so they set it up that way, but many posters he didn't take time to look into that or think that through either...

In the end, Wilder canceled this fight because Povetkin had literally 7% of the ALLOWED amount of this in his system. It's such a small amount, Povetkin could have had 14 times more than this in his system, and STILL PASSED THE TEST. Wilder canceled this fight over a test that was 93% away from a failed test. That's just a straight up duck no other way to put it. You are allowed 1 microgram, and Wilder canceled the fight over 7% of the allowed amount. 7 ****ing percent. 0.07 micrograms. Not 0.7 micrograms, which also would have been allowed, but 0.07. It's a joke. And I'm sure just like Floyd claiming he ducked Pacquiao because Pacquiao was on PEDs, we'll find out 10 years from now that while Wilder used 0.07 micrograms as an excuse to duck Povetkin, he was probably on ten times as much stuff himself.

They're probably both on way better PEDs than 0.07 micrograms of this **** but the rest just didn't show up. It shows what a joke boxing is but at least Povetkin was willing to go through with the fight. Wilder tried to use 7% of the allowed amount of a mostly useless substance that was legal just six months ago as an excuse to duck the fight, and that's why he has the reputation he has as "Bum Squad."

You're not understanding one important part.

"However, on April 13, WADA announced that the concentration of less than one microgram of meldonium in the body system of an athlete, whose doping tests were conducted before March 1, was acceptable."

The ruling of less than 1 microgram being legal applies to tests taken before March 1. That's how much meldonium can remain in the body after 2 months after the ban (Jan 1st). This test was conducted almost 4 months after the ban. They need to establish how much meldonium can remain in the body after 4 months.

Assuming they confirm that 70 nanograms is a reasonable amount to remain in the body after 4 months, they also need to explain how he tested clean 3 times in the beginning of April. It's possible they will say that because of high intensity training, he was carrying less water which made identification of substances easier.

We know nothing for sure, and any theories put up now are just that - theories.

They need the two months because they need to test further to see how long Meldonium remains in the body/other variables.

Guy tests positive for a banned substance. B sample confirms this. Fight is canceled. We need to investigate for a couple months. Wait what? You lost me on that last part. This seems like a ban situation, even if its a weak 6 month ban as I suspect it will be.

I feel like WBC guy is playing don't piss off the billionaire who just paid $7M to put on one of the biggest fights in Russia boxing history.
