Canelo is 25 and outselling GGG 4-5 fold. :/...

It's not even close until GGG gets some proper names under him...preferably (for him) Canelo. The thing about it is that once GGG loses people might stop caring. Canelo is 25... He could lose a few more times in his career and people probably won't care so long as he's not dropping too many and fights bravely. He also fights in a way that unless he's being KOd, decisions will always favor him..his style looks good to the judges. And if he loses a decision it'll likely be close enough where his die hards will claim be lost.

GGG loses once and he's in serious s hit...

Canelo was the draw the minute he was born in Mexico. Best fans in the world. I envy their fight culture.

Ok I just found their rankings. This site is a joke. Lebron James isn't on there but Karl Anthony Thomas and James Harden are. This list is a complete joke

sounds like they're talking about product endorsements, not boxing.

in boxing terms canelo is the more marketable fighter. mexican sells, and he's 10 years younger.

in 5-10 years golovkin will be long retired. canelo, at this rate, will likely still have fights left.

i will say this, the confluence of his jovial personality out of the ring his visciousness inside of the ring crosses over to a mainstream audience. could you imagine how fierce that guy can get if you just saw him interview on TV, or after a fight? seems like almost youthful in his approach. i love the nickname "good boy." it fits.

then you get him into the ring and he's a straight up killer. "where the f#ck di that guy come from?" The casuals will say. even has a snarl on his face, and you know damn well he never had to practice it.

kind of like manny in that regard. manny was a friendly little killer in his prime. part of his novelty was that americans associate little asian guys with being meager, nerdy, booksmart, and manny was a TNT puncher and a vicious fighter himself.

Canelo has youth on his side but Golovkin has a more marketable personality and fighting style. A KO artist has an advantage when it comes to marketability.

GGG has hard eyes. You can tell he's not some random pretty boy punk.

Canelo on the other hand comes off as more stoic but he's actually a well spoken charismatic dude. GGG is a killer and with some wins WILL be martketable but Canelo has that air around him like he's a king in a country of fighters. He's light skinned, "good looking" (no **** but thats all I hear from chicks "Oh canelo my husband " this and that) and he has an extremely flashy way of fighting while still seeming "mexican". He's an agressive counter puncher who doesn't back up. Canelo was just born to be a star. Maybe not an atg (hey you never know) but dude oozes that quiet dignity/charisma that you only see in boxers.

Marketable in this context does not appear to mean what you think it does. It's not the person who can sell the most tickets or PPVs right now, which are the most important things in determining a split. GGG is a name in his own right but not one that makes a 55-45 split fair. 70-30 seems reasonable to me.
