"He's cutting all this weight to make 155? Why?"

Eubank is right and this is what I dont get either. Canelo is cutting unnecessary weight when he doesn't have to.

Eubank actually did say just that, that he wants Golovkin this Sept. Whether or not he actually means that remains to be seen.

Same reason Chavez Jr was doing it, much easier to impose your will when you have more power than your naturally smaller opponent and don't really fear what's coming back at you. Guys have done this for eons. I'm a proponent for bringing back fight day weigh-ins because there are some fighters who just don't have the pop to compete at higher divisions so they melt the hell down and end up beating on smaller fighters who have maxed out their growth physically without being unhealthy.

Someone needs to define the term "elite" on NSB

            Dictionary says >>>

Elite :- "the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons"

Good :- "satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree: a good teacher; good health." "3. of high quality; excellent."

Tell me how Saunders is the choice or best of a group of boxers. He is a quality boxer so to my mind the right description is that he is "A GOOD BOXER"

I would say Golovkin is an elite MW. He ha snot yet proven himself to be an elite boxer (all weights) ... although he looks the part.

Weigh-ins on the previous day were brought in for a reason. Now the authorities that be need to introduce across the board re-hydration limits. Lets say no higher than the next weight up. So in case of MW that would be 168lbs.

But boxing doesn't want to do this for 2 reasons really.

1/ The more weigh-ins you have the more chance of missed weigh-ins and all the hassle and cost that causes including cancelled fights.

2/ Some of the "story" would go out of boxing. You would have more competitive fights but probably less tkos and kos as boxers would be more evenly matched with less power advantages. Can't have that. Fans want KOs!!

I didn't see the part regarding September. I only saw he's gunning for a "year end..."

This is practically not possible for all weight class because the Fly, Bantam, Super Bantam & Feather weights have hardly 4lbs diff between them..

I believe they should introduce a fight night weigh in & not a fight day weigh in..

So Jr you shouldn't be the one to say top contenders after your choice of last 2 opponents

All of that is irrelevant if what he's saying is true. He called a man in the ring, challenged him, then vacated the belt. Now, he's not talking to the press.

A LOT OF FIGHTERS HAVE COME OUT AND SAID WHAT CANELO DID IS DISRESPECTFUL TO BOXING.

I still think there should be re-hydration limits. The closer you are fighting to your walk around weight then the better.
If you want to be real fastidious you could take weights every 4 months of a boxer's career and work of the averages. That would punish sloppy fighters who balloon out of the ring. Lets say your average walk around weight over 3 years is 178. Guess what? You are disqualified from fighting at MW and have to fight at SMW. Would be somewhat interesting and would keep fighters in the news even when they don't have fights lined up - like Mickey Garcia.
