It's like a marathon runner competing in a 100 meter dash, it's not the same. If he's not prepared for it, he'll get beat.
The pro game tends to favor power? What pro game are you watching? The pro game tends to favor clinching and creating low output fights that's the difference...in the Olympics you win by scoring points by landing shots...in the pros you win by creating no-action.

I could definitely see that happening, especially to the slow starters who like to take fights to the late rounds.. guys who like to invest to the body and make it a war of attrition. Conversely we could see a lot of promising AM's career derailed once the pro has his pride tested and has to fight back to win

For pros like Pac to come in and damage some kid who just turned 18 is not cool.

khan said he would like to go to the olympics, and with the removal of headgear how knows, he might get KO'd by an amateur

I can see Tyson's point. Pro fighters are trained and accustomed to pace themselves for a long fight which means feeling each other out and starting slow.

As an amateur boxer myself. 4 rounds goes by very quickly. The pace is very fast from the start and there's really no time to pace youself and feel each other out. Amateur boxers are trained for that and that could shock even veteran pros.

There's no doubt some of the best amateurs today could beat some pro contenders today in amateur boxing.

Still not favor of it though. Pros are trained to hurt and KO their opponent and it would be dangerous for young amateurs l.

Olympic style boxing is not the same as Professional boxing.

Many non medalists have had good careers and some were title holders. Even P4P King Money could lose in the Olympics right now.

A best selling author who's authored many books could fail English 1 if they wrote the way they wrote in a intro class. The basics are forgotten...

The last two posts before mine explain the situation great. Now the only question left is, do the amateurs want it?

This is an interesting take. There's definitely some amateurs out there that can beat pros. I'll love to see the day.

Or Floyd, RJ, Oscar, Ward all would beat most pros when they were in the Olympics IMO.

I actually want to see Manny go in the Olympics out of everyone. I believe that's something he regretted his whole life.

And didn't Rig. , Loma get Titles after like only a few pro fights??

I think they're VASTLY under rating some of these amateurs. Heck most of the Cuban Amateurs are like 30 years old.

                      Roniel Iglesias

Of course we know some Americans are gonna take home at least 1 Gold!
