there comes a time when a father has to know when to let go. and how would the father know he's doing the right thing? a father could be so into himself that he thinks he's doing it right when it could be all wrong.

Then you have pairings like the Jones, the Mosleys and the DLHs (I think it was a more manager than coach but still a prominent part of the backroom staff). Eubank sr/jr may be heading towards similar problems.

There have been more negatives than positives really.
Outside of Roger's health starting to really ail him, I've never seen anything about Roger and Floyd ever having beef.

The Jones' Mosley's and DLH's relationships all broke down, as an observer looking in, because the father figures never really accepted that their sons were not grown men who, though open to taking an considering their counsel, were now making their own decisions.

Eubank Sr/Jr may have that brewing, but I think Sr is schooled enough to see that and avoid putting his son into that type of position.

One of my favorite things about boxing is seeing so many Father/Son relationships and how the fathers are apart of their sons careers regardless if it is them standing in the ring holding belts and rooting for them ring side or being the Managers for their son you even have Angel Garcia and Kenny Porter and others who act as BOTH Manager and Trainer

Of course as stubborn young boys we think "My Father Is Always Hard On Me!" well it is for a reason and most of us don't understand that until either our fathers are dead and gone and it is too late to tell him thank you but most times it just takes someone Maturing to look back and finally understand why Father was so hard on you! Father knows what he is doing and saying, no way is he going to lead his son in the wrong direction just STFU and LISTEN and it will pay off later in life! For someone like Mayweather the discipline that his father installed in him made him a lot of Money and a All Time Great in the sport!

It depends what the father's credentials are imo. The breakdown happens when the son exceeds the level of his father's knowledge. Wanting what's best and actually having the knowledge to attain it are 2 different things. Once someone is a pro...they need a trainer experienced at training pros. What other sport is there where some clown who thinks he knows more than he does expects to train an athlete at the highest level just cuz he's his dad?

One thing I notice with fighters who are trained by their fathers is that theyll kill and die in the ring for the win. Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Eubank Jr for example all fight to their absolute max.

The jury is still out for me on many of them but I think a fair few do a good job and come in for criticism which can be unfair.

It depends on the father himself aswell.

Whatever the reason, they broke down and there seems to be more negatives with fathers getting too involved in their sons careers.

And I really hope you're right about Snr but knowing so much about that guy, as we do, I don't think he will back away. The onus is on Jnr to tell his dad.
