Briggs is not Foreman but yes, it's a good story he's telling us and he did show courage and will with what he came back from on a personal level. AND it seems he did land another big fight in David Haye now. Because it is a big fight and it's winnable too. I for one will be rooting for him against Haye.what 44 year old is in their prime? Yea he has fought nothing but cans man. Its a feel good story of a guy trying to turn his life around. He will probably lose to Ortiz, Wilder, Joshua but hey, they gave old george a chance and he fought 20 cans until he got a title shot. why not Briggs who actually looks decent still even though his opposition is crappy like George. He does still have some speed, power, and countering ability. probably all of 2 rounds lol
Vitali kicked his ass but he hung in their like a champ...lets go champ...lets go champ
He was close to the brink of giving up and his daughter was his inspiration to fight on in life.
I support that, my son is my inspiration

his branding / marketing are up there, dollar for dollar, with any contemporary fighter not named floyd mayweather. that he's as relevant as he is is a testament to that. his "short fight" style against lesser opponents when he's tuning up / coasting for bigger fights helps.
fury and haye are both up there as well. haye's a conman, and builds his brand accordingly. it's a mirage. and god knows what tyson fury is doing other than going for shock value about as effectively as any other contemporary fighter.
no surprise that you see this at HW, the novelty of having "the biggest" men fight has attracted casuals since day 1.Comment

me too...its bittersweet because I was looking forward to haye coming back, but now they'll most likely be fighting each other. I favor Haye, whoever wins is fine by me but Im rooting for Briggs. It's more because I want Haye to lose than anything. I don't want Haye to get a Joshua fight down the road -- he doesn't deserve that, at all.Comment

He is a former cruiser weight champion and held the wba at heavyweight, far less deserving fighters have got title shots in recent history. At least haye has been a champion. A lot of people getting a shot nowadays are never wases.Comment

I can get behind a guy like Shannon Briggs being an annoying prick because he's always shown that he's willing to win in every big fight. If you're gonna be brash, back it up in the ring and be ready to go out on your shield. He's definitely in over his head vs. Haye, but David could learn a thing or two about backing up shit-talk from this fella. Lennox Lewis had to hit him with every single shot in his arsenal and he continued to get up, over and over and over. Never quit. Vitali Klitschko beat the dog shit outta him and he never stopped going for it. Haye's display on the biggest stage of his career was pitiful and made worse with the whole "pinky toe" situation.Comment

But let's be real- Shannon is gonna get the couple million or so for this fight and most likely get stopped badly for it. And then it's adios. He's been literally promoting himself, so he had no choice but to adopt this brash attitude in the division. And to his credit, it seems to have landed him a big fight with relative ease. I just hope he goes for broke like he did vs. Lewis in rounds 1-2, cuz thats his best shot. LETS GO CHAMP
