I thought he was enormous as it is... Can he really make 130?

three decision wins in his last four fights.

he's probably doubting his power/strength at lightweight.

didn't look impressive in his last fight from what i've heard.

The title holders at 135 are too good for him at this point. But going down to 130 would be a huge mistake.

He's been saying this for a while, I wonder if he's serious. If he is then I hope he can make the weight safely.
There really isn't an easy World title at 130; probably one of the toughest divisions to get a title in at the moment. Pedraza is looking to move up soon though. Verdejo should try to get a shot at that vacant belt. That would be the easiest title shot at the weight. I seriously doubt they're going to match Verdejo against Lomachenko, if Loma beats Martinez of course, this early. I don't even think the fight would make sense right now.
I wonder how else they would get him the title shot. I wonder if they would let Verdejo fight Pedraza or Vargas. Or Fortuna or Corrales.

It's disappointing who he is fighting on June 11. It seems like they lost a lot of confidence on the kid.
I used to talk all kinds of crap about Verdejo saying how he was overrated and what not, but I've been defending him as of late.
Hopefully everything goes well for him on June 11, if he fails to impress that definitely won't be very good for his career.
I don't even think he looked bad against Silva tbh. I just saw a young fighter with a lot to improve, but that's the case for every fighter early in their career. It's a shame Jose Felix Jr. didn't accept the fight. That would have been a good test.

Well you got it right the first time, he is overrated. If he his dropping down to 130, which seems kinda wild since he's a tall, lanky guy, he probably beats guys like Vargas or Salido but he loses to Loma or Neno.

He easily beats Vargas with drug testing.

He's still young so he might be able to get away with it. ODH did the same thing when he first started. Dropped down from 135 to 130 to win a paper title.
