They both were seen on ESPN the first time. One went on to beat a top PFP fighter and almost no more TV slots. The other fought more top names and is always on major networks. Perhaps its the size.....Rigo is smaller and those divisions can be overlooked at times. But more fighters have the balls to fight Lara than Rigo and that is part of it. Even thought hat is not the topic here, it is an observation. If both were more engaging personalities and more engaging in the ring, they might both be more successful as a sell....especially Rigo. I enjoy watching Rigo more than Lara.

Definitely Lara. Rigo has the skill to keep his fights from being close despite his frustrating style, so it makes sense why he fights the way he does. Lara is always in close fights with fighters he is much better than, yet he does nothing to change his style and prevent that. It is incredibly frustrating to see such a talented and skilled fighter muck through close wins against guys he should be humiliating.

I think that just comes down to Lara having better management and promotion.

I think it's Lara. Rigo has guys like Agbeko scared to fight back. While Lara actually had Vanes chasing him with his hands down, throwing wild shots and still didn't counter and throw at him like he could have.

And it's not like Lara doesn't have the weapons. The times he did open up, you'd see him land flush, clean and it would make Vanes take a couple steps back. I simply don't get it. I guess it's too late to change his ways, but Lara should be having his way with a guy like Vanes offensively

Both guys have have the same 'just do enough to win' mentality, which is really not helping them get more fans or earning the big money shots.

I say Rigondeaux is more frustrating since he looks the more impressive of the 2. The real shame is that when he's on point he's a brilliant to watch but chooses to fight safety first. Lara's style in general is just a major eye sore that just isn't pretty to watch, although I do respect his skills.

Do they really teach this kind of style in Cuban boxing school? They need to take notes from watching Jose Napoles
In Cuba you can not be a professional athlete so rather you have 1 fan or 1,000,000 it doesnt matter theres no payday so from a cuban boxer perspective why go slug it out risk getting injured and have to work in a cogar factory when you can win off points and not get injured. Its a real learning curve especial when you have fighters who literally grew up in the cuban amatuer system from age 6.

Lara. Rigondeaux has shown he can actually turn up the pressure and take opponents out. Plus he also goes to the body. Lara is content staying on the outside throwing an jab followed by a straight left the entire fight even against woefully overmatched opponents. That Delvin Rodriguez fight should have been ended in the 3rd round instead he carried him 12 rounds. That's why he'll never get a big fight for the remainder of his career.

Lara is way more frustrating... Watch the Rigo v Amagasa fight( if you can find it I heard it was banned because of the brutality of it) Rigo has a mean streak, Lara does not. Rigo fights like its a privilege for his opponents to share the ring with him and if they try to win ( i.e. Amagasa knocking him down) he feels insulted( i.e. Breaking Amagasas face in 3 places). Lara the other hand and I want too know if I'm alone on this... Fights like he's scared.... Like he's intimidated by his opponent and is trying to do the bare minimum too keep them off. I didn't think this originally until I saw the Ishe Smith fight and Smith walks over to Lara and starts trashing him and Lara this elite fighter, puts his ****ing head down and submits too Ishe. I was like WTF.

Doesn't matter who. They're both boring to watch. Man, even their opponents get bored chasing them... I saw it again last night, Vanes motioning Lara to come and fight and stop running.

They should never headline fights and just be relegated to the undercards. It's clear they don't give a f*k about the paying audience.

I don't subscribe to the idea that theirs is a special case and deserve careful match-making like giving them come forward fighters as if there's a factory for those kinds of fighters. Boxing is not charity.

How about Lara vs one of the Charlo twins next?
