  • Lara is his own worst enemy

He's a very good fighter, that's apparent to anyone who knows boxing but every single fight he fails to do anything special. He's never had a "make a statement fight" against a top level opponent or really anyone for that matter... When you have that much talent you should blow a guy like Vanes out, or Molina, or Even Canelo...we saw how Floyd just toyed with the kid...

Lara may just be extremely overrated and be a little above average I guess but for the amount of talk he gets on here you'd think he's had a couple real career defining commanding victories but that is just not the case...

Rigo beating up Donaire is far more impressive than anything Lara has ever done..

That's just who he is. Good fighter, amateur mentality.

You have to force him to fight to bring the best out of him like Angulo and Williams did. All of his "boring" fights are against other boxers/boxer punchers/counter punchers.

Rigo is obviously a better fighter but Lara has fought more different styles that we havent seen Rigo in there with so I don't think it's an even comparison.

Donaire is a Hall of famer but your not going to beat Rigo looking to land one shot, staying at his range and not throwing a single body punch.

I don't think he needs to change anything, his opponents need to figure him out not his job to dumb it down for a bunch of fans who all they know is the basic elements in boxing which is simply just "POWER" and "Knockouts" boxing is more than that

Willie Pep, Pernell Whittaker I still look at their videos on youtube and is still blown away by the stuff they was able to do in the ring DEFENSIVELY.

He really doesn't need to change anything, his competition need to figure him out and if they can't then prepare to get embarrassed and frustrated for 12 Rounds. Stop trying to get Lara to change his style, the pressure need to be put on his competition to DO BETTER!

Lara is making GREAT MONEY and is having a Hall Of Fame Type Of Career doing what he does now, WHY CHANGE?

that's a bit of exaggerating....Last night he won like 7-5 or 8-4 with a terrible point deduction thrown in...hardly embarrassing I'd say for vanes..he doesn't move his head at all, Lara should have destroyed him, instead he threw a few punches and ran around as usual..he doesn't have to change anything but don't expect fans to warm up to you and want to see you when you bore them to death.

Low output, overly defensive and inactive for stretches, a bore to watch.

And pernell could stand right in front of you and make you miss 3-4 punches in a row and then fore back a combo of his own. He didn't run around the whole ring for 20 seconds at a time then throw one straight left then run for another 20 seconds...

As if the Boxing hall of fame is hard to get into lets be honest. Lara can keep doing what he is doing and keep winning for a few more years and he is a Hall of Famer

By the way when has Vanes ever been destroyed by anybody? That is easier said than done! Vanes is very tough and his style as well is hard to look good against!

Who has destroyed Vanes? His fight with Andrade was competitive and he scored a KD. He arguably beat Charlo. He beat Willie Nelson and dropped Ishe Smith a couple of times.

Hes not a bad fighter. You think Canelo destroys Vanes? I think it goes the distance in a 116-112 lackluster scrap. And remember he was Canelo's mando but they never gave him his shot.

In a nutshell, I will say this, his punches last night were extra crispy

It's almost like he's even bored with himself at times. He has no second gear and is one dimensional, it's a heck of a dimension and hard to beat, but he has no inside game or offers anything on offense besides a range finding jab and hard left. On defense he's great but at times he doesn't even look to counter even when he creates a lot of opportunities. Still very hard to beat.

I would say that he did have two very great performances, he shut out Trout and schooled Paul Williams. Both fellow southpaws by the way, don't think another left hander can beat him.
