Younger Pernell was able to absolutely but older Pernell was more Defensive and Smarter

Lara did not "Run" yesterday, he was in the pocket a lot vs Vanes, Vanes became reluctant to throw like most who fight Lara or Rigondeaux because everything they throw was being COUNTERED

I don't blame Lara for ****, he sits at the top at 154, it is everybody else job to figure out HOW TO BEAT HIM! It is not his job to make it easy for anybody!

I'm thankful for Lara. I was out if NyQuil last night and I put his fight on and I was out in seconds.

Willie Pep, Pernell Whittaker I still look at their videos on youtube and is still blown away by the stuff they was able to do in the ring DEFENSIVELY.
The great fighters like Pep and Whitaker could stand right in front of their opponent, slipping and countering for 12-15 rounds. So many clueless fans these days think that if a fighter is constantly in retreat he must be hugely skilled because that's what Floyd does.

Lara needs too much space to work. He isn't that defensively intelligent at all and is over reliant on his legs to stay out of trouble. He's good, but by no means great. He's had countless opportunities to really put his stamp on the sport, but he's came up short because the ability just isn't there.

And people think he could beat GGG, he will run for as long as his chin would hold up.
Can't believe people still watch Lara expecting a good fight, he always disappoints the fans.
After the Canelo fight, I was done with him. That fight was as good as Floyd and Manny.

Lara was in the pocket vs Vanes and Vanes FROZE but then to Vanes credit he started going to the body.

Who said anything about Lara being "Great" my argument for him is that what he does WORKS FOR HIM SO WHY CHANGE?

As for Pep, Pep would win rounds without throwing a punch as many boxing Historians would describe him. But even as great as Pep was, in his ERA he had better competition like Sandy Saddler who when he fought Pep was Relentless and even DIRTY. He did whatever it takes to defeat Pep. This ERA all I'm seeing is fans CRY about different styles but rarely do I see anybody put blame on guys like Lara and Rigo competition.

It was Rigo fault that he picked Donaire complete apart, nobody ever talk about what Donaire did wrong in that fight. Same with Lara, I see more people cry about the way he fought vs Canelo but not many call out Canelo for his **** gameplan and absolute inability to cut the ring off which he stills struggles with

This is boxing, it is fighters jobs to figure out how to beat each other which is what makes the sports great. Sorry but I don't boxing to ever be to the point in which everybody fights one way because that is not what makes boxing great. Different styles in the sport going against each other is what makes this sport great!
