The WBC rules don't do that, at all.
Go read the rules if you're going to make a ****** claim.Comment

I couldn't care less about the record, if it's official to the sanctioning body then fk it...
when the lineal champ ducks his toughest opposition which the last 3 did at MW then what does that "title" value actually hold anyway?Comment

the problem with your thinking (or lack thereof) is that in order for a title to be considered "vacant", there can be no Champion. When Canelo decided to pass on the GGG fight, the title did not become "vacant", it simply passed to GGG
Its not that complicatedComment

If we're talking records, it should be where Golovkin was clearly the best middleweight in the world, which in my view was proven by beating Murray. Lineal titles can mean even less than ABC titles so its a bit silly to overrate them,
But using the Hopkins formula, we should start the 'record' from when Golovkin was the sole WBA champion, which was after Rosado... so he has 11 'title defences' in the same vein as HopkinsComment
