Jacobs vs Lara would be a perfect prelude to a Golovkin fight
We'd get none of the 'oh but he was a 154lb fighter though' from the usual suspects who are clamoring so hard for the fight (if Lara wins).
If Jacobs wins, its a big fight with Golovkin, as WBA mandatory.
Jumping straight into a fight with the middleweight champion is silly.. Prove yourself a little first at 160Comment

The haymon doesn't allow his fighters to fight on HBO thing is a myth. If GGG wants it he can make it happen. I think he beats Lara, but it's the fear of looking ordinary is what's keeping GGG from fighting him. Not the money or the lack of a big name.Comment

We get it - you want a payday... Will you please just go away, and bore somebody else to sleep? You got beat by Saul and put on a pathetic showing.... you got beat by Carlos Molina, or drew him one I forgot... you're not relevant at the top of the sport..... fooking vanes was on even terms with you, you ***... maybe if u convincingly beat vanes and dont bore everyone to death, and then beat a one of the char twins, you will be relevant
"Fans" like you are something else...
Let's see who Gennady trots out as his next opponent.Comment

Cherry picking soft-touches across various weight divisions is no big accomplishment. Seems every time Broner steps up, he gets clowned.Comment

Lara would be the single best name on GGG's resume, by a wide margin.
Expected reply from GGG and fans: "what has Lara done to earn a shot at A side, 90k PPV draw GGG?"
Expect GGG to fight another cab driver this fall to defend his collection of trinkets. GGG avoids real threats.Comment

Beating Jacobs would put Lara in position to be GGG's WBA mandatory at MIDDLEWEIGHT. He could force this fight that you people think he wants .
Jacobs has had the belt since Aug 2014 and all Lara has done is talk.
What's he been waiting on? It's easier to just talk about itComment

doubt he takes that route, he knows GGG is an investment and he knows burning bridges and talking out of ego will kill fights with others especially considering GGG age and the changes of the boxing market. ppl dont wanna pay for ppvs unless its a competitive fight. competitive fights demand alot of money or concessions more times than not. i think tom over analyzed GGG market potential and the lemieux ppv came back to bite him. as much as i think GGG smashes Canelo, the prize behind it is the appeal he gets to increase $$, Canelo and Oscare know this and in todays sport, taking multiple Ls hurts a career alot more than guys from 10 years ago, Oscar use to take an L and still keep his aura of attracting big money fights. it does not work that way anymore espeically with fights on free tv and the price of ppv sky rocketing and streams and amazon fire stick which literally gives you all the fights if you unlock it (i need to grab one soon)
right, and playing the "nice guy" has worked oh so well............lolComment
