If GBP/K2 asked the WBC for a 30 day extension....

Who here thinks they wouldn't have granted it? Knowing they are negotiating in good faith and working on the details of a huge fight... The WBC would have bent over backwards for them and pushed back the deadline and purse bid for a month... That excuse from GBP is a pathetic ploy to make it about anything but they're unwillingness to fight GGG this September and at every advantage they can possibly gain..

If you disagree, give me a good reason why...

GBP wants absolutely nothing to do with GGG. They are protecting their "golden boy".

No they wouldn't grant an extension. It's just a boxing match and not a peace treaty between two countries. If both sides really want to make the fight they should be able to come to an agreement in hours, not days, weeks or a full month. All they need to decide is where and when the fight takes place. What percentage of the money each side get and what weight the fight will be fought at. There might be a few other details that need to be worked out but it just isn't that complicated. If they can't make this fight in a day or two then one side or the other really doesn't want the fight and another 28 days won't change anything.

Yep. They grant them all the time if both parties are negotiating in good faith. Good faith being the key word. What's interesting is that the WBC was so firm. They knew one side wasn't negotiating in good faith. That's why they came out firmly and said May 24th is the date for a purse bid. As soon as they said that Canelo vacated. You people can make all the excuses you want but the bottom line is GBP/ODLH/Canelo never intended to make this fight. Something that caught my eyes a couple of days ago....

Completely disagree. The WBC would not have been the roadblock to this fight, you're crazy. They would've given as much time needed as long as both parties were on board. It seems as tho K2 is tired of getting jerked around. They took a step aside, gave a voluntary defense, and finally it seems they've had enough.

Canelo dropped the belt so he can demand the fight at 155 simple and plain....that is why they are still negotiating

GGG has the title now which was his main goal. He would have loved to fight Canelo for it but he will be glad to take it by default too. Now that GGG is the champ he would still fight Canelo if an offer is made that he likes. He can't be bullied into a fight with terms he doesn't like. No other fight makes him as much money as the Canelo fight but lots of other fights can make him good money. There is no A side anymore. GGG would like the Canelo fight with reasonable and fair terms but he can also get along fine without it.
