I'll always root for the puncher over a spoiler and it's marginally easier to be a defensive fighter than offensive but it doesn't belittle the skill or achievement.

Sometimes a win is the only goal.
Watching Ward is like watching Man United play football, it's so incredibly boring they don't take any risks and its just in general not worth the time or users effort.

However you need to like the most boring fighter about who utilizes cheating methods (headbutting, clinching and wrestling) to get the upper hand, this is what boxing has come to, very sad.

I can see why you guys don't like him.
Paulie's good behind a mic, but when he speaks opinions between fights where he doesn't have to be professional, he's like the worst biased fan on NSB.

      • I can't say I've always been a Ward fan but he's had some impressive wins over the years. I think he has a chance to beat Kovalev but it won't be easy. Ward and Hopkins have a similar style and Kovalev was able to handle him easy. How much better can Ward do against Kovalev? Regardless, it should be a good fight and I hope the best man win.

j0zef, I'd like to refine your statement, if I may. The 2 criteria to a current P4P list is recent additions to a strong resume & the skill displayed in those recent additions.

There's no denying that Ward belongs on a top-10 P4P list. Of course, here's where the debate starts. Where exactly does he rank?

Personally, I believe he's at least top 5. And judging by his recent performance, the defense was strong. But the rust was evident. More specifically, I didn't like that he was very careful with throwing his right hand, like he was protecting it. Down the stretch, that right arm was glued to his body. All boxers know that they're going to get hit, & Ward did well in his defense. And his jab was doing damage too. I actually agreed with Ward's B- grade. Thus, it will be tough justifying him as the #1 P4P. He's getting there, though. It's tough to say he's the best boxer in the world right now when I remember how good he was in the past. The Barrera fight is not a good example of how great Ward is as a boxer. Roman Gonzalez at #1 is a safe pick to head your P4P rankings.

So how much more is he making with rock nation? i didn't realize that he has made a deal that is so much better than his other contract was with Goosen. in fact he could have finished up his contract (probably) with Goosen and signed a new one with Rock nation just about at the same time or sooner if he taken the last fights on his contract (its my guess, i don't think they made those contracts public)

Ward attempted to remedy his contractual issues in court.

Tell me something..... what do you think of Pacquiao, when he violated the terms of his contract and took a suitcase full of money from Hoya?

Describe that in 10 words or less.

You're welcome to your opinion. I have mine.

The offensive fighter takes more risks.

And accordingly, he takes more L's.

              I don't get that " game-plan ".

MOST of the fighters you are referring to would not take the same level of risk if they had a more well-rounded game.

              Lemieux is a perfect example.

I don't think he is biased, I think he is opinionated.

Most people seem to HATE Paulie with a passion because of his opinions regarding boxing's 2 latest darlings..... Pacquiao, and Golovkin.

                  Pretty sure that's whats up.
