There's no evidence that Meldonium improves performance. Why Povetkin would risk getting caught and banned for something that might do nothing is puzzling to me.

He probably started taking it before his recent run of impressive performances and now it's in his head that it helps him perform better... We know athletes will try to get any advantage and they also are superstitious about stuff they think helps them one way or another.

What a mess. Povetkin and his team really screwed up a great fight here.

The fact that he tested clean multiple times and then he was popped on the 4th consecutive drug test in the lead up is the sketchiest part.

Povetkin is a good fighter but this is a real setback.

I hope Wilder's next opponent is as dangerous as Povetkin would have been, Anthony Joshua would be nice.
