Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Has a Dance Card to Fill; Why Not David Haye?

Sometimes you do everything right and it doesn't work out. Many assumed WBC heavyweight Deontay Wilder (36-0, 35 KO) would avoid mandatory contender Alexander Povetkin, especially if Team Povetkin won a purse bid and forced the fight to Povetkin's native Russia. He didn't avoid it. He took the fight, signed the contract, and was in camp overseas.

Wilder has no 'dance card' to fill, the Povetkin fight is not cancelled.

The WBC postponed the fight, but it should be cancelled and the drug cheat Povetkin should be banned for years.

Yes id like it, but would wilder or haye?
Its similar to when Lennox was schedulded to fight Kirk Johnson and then Vitali stepped up to the plate isn't it?

Yeh like Haye deserves another title shot this century after he stank the joint out versus Klitschko. I'd prefer to see Wilder stay busy against Pulev or Stiverne, though I very much doubt any one of these three fights happen as an optional defence, Haymon will keep everything in house.

Would prefer to see him versus Haye or Pulev.

After this fiasco Wilder will have a strict drug policy. Pass the test fight the best.

Haye makes the most financial sense. Let's face it Pulev & stiverne don't put fans in the seats. The haye fight could be in a stadium in England. Pulev or stiverne would probably be in Jersey, alabama or brookly with a half empty arena...

Wilder isn't going to take a fight like Haye unless he's forced.
