If I had a choice, I'd gladly sacrifice power for the ability to not take punches. In boxing history, the guys that get hit the least are usually the best fighters. And GGG isn't very good at that. Matter of fact, Canelo is better defensively. Not saying he'll win. But GGG isn't very good defensively. That's just a fact.

i wouldnt say hes not a boxer and is below average defensively. Hes very skillfull the problem is he never had to use it, he never has to fight on the backfoot or defend really well. Most fights if he knows he can take their best shot hes more than happy to take one or two here and there to set his own shots up, which is fine. Against lemiuex you saw him use the jab a lot more to control the range rather took simply walking through shots, he tooke less risks because he knew lemiuex could ****. I think vs canelo he will prove he can box and not just slugComment

For all those people that say GGG hasn't fought anybody, who has Canelo fought really? Cotto, Mosley , old ass's . He got them too old. So the really big name was Money and what happened there?
No body wants Triple G , so its not his fault they all are scared.
Canelo , Ward , and Money all make up stories about GGG not wanting to fight , its all B.S .Comment

Canelo has a puncher's chance but that's it. Otherwise I see this as a very one sided fight. GGG has higher ring IQ, much better movement a much better jab and is better at catching his opponent's jab. He will control the range, jab the **** out of C early, weaken him to the body after that then finish him. GGG is defensively responsible and isn't looking for a single shot punch. He's just all around heavy handed. The guy's he KOs early are the lucky ones. The others get beat up. I see Canelo getting beaten up.Comment

Absolutely. We saw GGG display more of his skill set when he fought Lemieux. I think the Canelo match up will go down similarly. GGG's pro fights aren't the most helpful to discern his overall boxing acumen. But his amateur bouts show what he has under wraps.Comment

Garcia is,.....never mind. Enough said about him already. Aside from the usual anti-GGG banter from the haters, the one thing that has caught my attention in this thread is the statement that GGG has never taken any deliberate shots. BS he hasn't!!!! I record a lot of fights on my cable box DVR and watch the fights repeatedly,....and not just he GGG fights. But in just about all of the GGG fights I have recorded, sometime during the fight GGG DOES take shots and in return gives every one of his opponents either a smirk of amusement, or just a plain grin that typically drains his opponents will psychologically. It's isn't one of those "ouch you hurt me so I'll play it off" grins, but that look of "that's all you got MF'er" smiles. Lemieux just plain pissed GGG off an didn't get much off a grin at all,.....more like a veer at the end of round 6 or 7 when GGG landed a sharp right upper-cut when Lemieux was able to land a good shot earlier. But against Geale, Stevens, Murray, and Monroe for example, that heart draining grin took the wind out of their sails and it was all over soon after that. Go back and watch these fights if you doubt me. I almost felt bad for poor Wade. Like Kahn against Canelo, Wade was just a lamb in the ring with a lion like GGG. I hate to break the bad news to those that think Canelo has a chance against GGG,.....but Alvarez doesn't stand a chance in hell of winning this future fight much less go the distance. It's a Lemieux fight all over again. Honestly, I doubt Canelo could handle Lemieux either.Comment

When has Canelo made anything look easy, he almost always has competitive close fights, the only fights that were easy for him were the ones that he was a huge favorite to win anyways.Comment
