Cortez don't know **** about boxing. He's not a fighter, trainer, promoter, or manager so he's basically talking out of his ass like fans do.

Lemieux has trouble making 160, no way he can make 155 healthy for Canelo.

I can see this fight taking place.

Maybe not at 155, I think team Canelo know that fans will not take any more of the '155 club' BS.

Canelo would beat Lemieux, even at 160.

Its an easy $10 million payday for ginger.

I can't imagine Canelo dodging GGG for real. He would lose all credibility with his fans for sure. I would enjoy seeing him fight Lemieux in the interim. Lemieux is a tough dangerous contender with serious knock out power. Would be a good test before facing GGG.

I couldn't agree with Mr Cortez more on the weight issues. If you are MW champ your opponent should be allowed to come in at between 155 and 160. No one including Canelo should be allowed to make changes the weight limit. Hell Holyfield weighed 215 and would fight 240 lb guys

****** fight for Canelo to take he would
                1. Lose the respect of many fans
                2. Be stripped of the title
                3. Have a fairly poor PPV
                4. Have a real risk of losing and thus missing out on the money from a GGG fight altogether

Canelo vs Khan was all smoke and mirrors. Khan was brought in do a job, make Canelo look good and boost his confidence. There was a high probability that Khan who cant take a punch fighting a guy like Canelo who has power that there would be a highlight reel ko and that's what happened here. The fight was Oscars marinade to make Canelo look like a devastating puncher like GGG,to boost Canelos confidence and so the public would say wow look at the KO.

If GGG insists fighting Canelo at 160,then its appropriate and fair to allow Canelo fight two credible MW at 160 before fighting GGG

You all need to remember, Golovkin and Canelo agreed to have a voluntary fight against each other before fighting. They agreed this so Canelo could get more used to MW. Golovkin wanted Saunders, who ducked, then angled for their mandatory of Johnson, who got a strange injury, forcing them to fight Wade. (Amusingly, after the dates were set and confirmed, only then did Lara tweet something along the lines of "Aw shucks, I'm always ready for a Golovkin fight, fight me you duck" despite being silent before all of it.)

This voluntary fight would have been a perfect opportunity for Canelo to negotiate a fight with Lemieux or Jacobs, or even Quillen, Lee, Geale, N'dam if he wanted less of a challenge. Lemieux or Geale would have been best, because GGG fought them so the camp's could compare their chances. This would have been a rational thing to do if Canelo was serious about fighting GGG.

Instead, he arranged for the notoriously glass-chinned Khan who struggled with power at 147 to move up to 155. He's fighting a welterweight. It's his own fault, I have no sympathy for Canelo, he had his chance to fight against a legit MW and blew it.

Anyway, he's the supposed MW champion. Surely the MW champion doesn't need to get used to the MW weight, and MW fighters? He's the big scary man who fought and best the previous man. Just kidding, we all know Golovkin is de facto the head of the MW division.
