Vargas's corner could have thrown in the towel at any time to save Vargas from the terrible beating he took. Instead they left him in the fight until the end on the off chance he would win. If you aren't a champion you don't have to fight a killer if you don't want to. A champion can turn down his most dangerous opponent but it's a bad look and many fans rightfully don't like that kind of champion. If Canelo waits for GGG to lose some of his skills from age before fighting him his fans would see through that and lose respect for him. The time for Canelo to fight GGG is now. If he is getting beat up his corner should stop the fight. I think Canelo has the mental toughness to take a loss and still reach his full potential. It's unfortunate for him that he is champion at the same time a monster like GGG is champion but those are the breaks. Who knows, he may surprise you and win the fight. I know that's not likely but if he chickens out of the fight he has no chance to win and every chance of being labeled a cowardly boxer.
Good post homie. My sentiments exactly. Boxing is a business after all but it us unfortunate for Canelo that a freak of nature lurks in the same division.

Gennady wants to unify the division and he has more than enough potential to. He can make history for him self and his countrymen. 2 more defenses away from bhops record aswell. But its all on hold due to politics. Gennady wants to reach his potential too.

Its crazy how golden boy is rescuing Canelo.

They have oscar saying Gennady should move up, Danny Garcia saying it, bhop sayimg it, floyds getting in on it too, now khan and virgil. Canelo is very protected, it isnt his fault.

Gennady is on his own not getting fair treatment, like Hagler was dogged early in his career for being too good and a south paw.

Poor guy Gennady. He just wants to unify.

GGG is 35, he's old in boxing terms, how long before he starts deteriorating? he might have 4, maybe 5 good years left in him at most, before he becomes a bum and a punching bag for younger talents

I think a potential Canelo-GGG clash could ruin Canelo, as the best fighter GGG has faced, he won't go down easily and could take a sustained, prolonged beating. I'm having flashes of Vargas-Trinidad here, another talented, young hungry lion, who was fed to the wolves too soon and was never the same again

Canelo should duck GGG for the time being, throw that ****ty belt that Cotto stole from a cripple on the trash can. Ginger shouldn't be pressured into fighting the kazakh monster yet, taking on the greatest, most dangerous MW possibly ever, in your first match at MW is pure lunacy. Canelo needs some 160 tune ups first.

After a couple years of fighting real MWs, and with GGG getting there in age, ginger should be ready to fight GGG. That's the only way to get a competitive fight, right now it's just a mismatch that will probably ruin the career of boxing's biggest star, and it won't even enhance GGG's legacy, as he'd be beating a no hoper underdog

Plz Canelo, dont listen to the hordes of haters who just want to see you starched, and duck GGG for the time being. This match shouldn't happen this year or the next
Vargas (20-0) was Trinidad's (38-0) third opponent at LMW, with about 4 year difference in age. Golovkin (35-0) would be Canelo's (47-1-1) 4th above the LMW limit with about 9 year difference in age. Sure, GGG would be Canelo's first real MW opponent, but that's Canelo ****in fault. He has the power to face almost anyone within the bounds of reason, and he chose a WW. The age/experience excuse no longer holds weight for me, especially because people keep bringing up how much better Canelo's resume is.

ODLH would be a dumbazz to put Canelo in with GGG at 160 right now.

I don't know about the most dangerous or greatest MW ever but the rest of your point is right on the money, you know your boxing.

Andre Ward just recently moved up to 175 from 168. Is he taking on the killer of 175, Sergei Kovalev, for his very first fight at 175? No of course not, that would be very ****** on Ward's part if he did. He's gradually transitioning/acclimating to 175 by fighting a few tune-ups first, to see how his body will react to the new weight class. That's what a fighter is supposed to do when they enter a new weight class; got to test the waters out first before they take on the best.

And btw, it's not a duck since Canelo and GGG fight in different weight classes/divisions - Canelo=154, GGG=160. Canelo holding those gold trinkets is what's confusing the casuals, thinking he's a legit MW when he's not. Personally, I think he should relinquish the belts and continue to do his thing at 154.
