    Canelo should duck GGG

Canelo is the face of the sport, the top draw, the most popular fighter in the post Pac-Floydette era. He's a great talent and only 25, he might have a decade of big fights ahead of him, a lot to give to the sport, not only in potential great matches but in attention and popularity for the sport as a whole

GGG is 35, he's old in boxing terms, how long before he starts deteriorating? he might have 4, maybe 5 good years left in him at most, before he becomes a bum and a punching bag for younger talents

I think a potential Canelo-GGG clash could ruin Canelo, as the best fighter GGG has faced, he won't go down easily and could take a sustained, prolonged beating. I'm having flashes of Vargas-Trinidad here, another talented, young hungry lion, who was fed to the wolves too soon and was never the same again

Canelo should duck GGG for the time being, throw that ****ty belt that Cotto stole from a cripple on the trash can. Ginger shouldn't be pressured into fighting the kazakh monster yet, taking on the greatest, most dangerous MW possibly ever, in your first match at MW is pure lunacy. Canelo needs some 160 tune ups first.

After a couple years of fighting real MWs, and with GGG getting there in age, ginger should be ready to fight GGG. That's the only way to get a competitive fight, right now it's just a mismatch that will probably ruin the career of boxing's biggest star, and it won't even enhance GGG's legacy, as he'd be beating a no hoper underdog

Plz Canelo, dont listen to the hordes of haters who just want to see you starched, and duck GGG for the time being. This match shouldn't happen this year or the next

Canelo, after beating cotto, should have just said my body is not ready for 160, i just came up for the lucrative cotto fight,, Im going to continue to campaign at 154 and relinquish the middleweight belt.. Nobody would have cared.

and it would setup canelo to feast on guys at 154

    khan
    maidana
    bradley
    cotto 2
    manny
    thurman
    porter
    etc

a lot of lucrative options for canelo at 154 without much risk... At 155-160 his only big option is GGG

I disagree. GGG has earned a shot and Canelo should make the fight.
What I don't agree with is that GGG will get to dicate terms. He hasn't earned that right. Canelo made concessions to fight Floyd, Floyd did to fight Oscar, Pac did to fight Oscar etc etc.. GGG doesn't bring a big fanbase or PPV buys he hasn't earned that.
He should take the fight at 155 and get a 70/30 split. That is fair for what he brings to the table. If he doesn't want to accept his position in the game I have no problem with Canelo dropping the belt. Canelo will still be the draw WBC strap or no.
GGG can have his belt, go back to HBO and fight bums again. The only difference will be is that he has to pay the WBC sanctioning fee's to do it. Its up to him if he wants to take the risk and get a career payday and a career win. He deserves the fight but doesn't deserve to dictate the terms.

Gennady Golovkin had 350 amateur fights, fought at the top amateur level from 2000 until he turned pro in 2005, and has basically fought at the same weight since he was 21 years old.

4 more years and Golovkin would be a 38-year old middleweight, having not grown a division since he was 21 years old. speak how you feel, but that'd be a longer stay at one weight class, sans heavyweight, that I've ever heard of.

i dont mind a tune up fight or two before a fight vs GGG as long as its 160 with the stated contractual promise that he faces GGG after x fight and at 160lbs.

no more caneloweight for a guy that rehydrates as a lightheavyweight.

GGG gave Canelo an extra fight to get acclimated to 160 and fight a true MW as a tune-up, but Canelo instead stayed at 155 and fought a glass-chinned welterweight

if Canelo gets beaten down viciously, he'll have deserved it

I have to disagree with you. If you can't handle the responsibility and obligations of being a world champion then don't win the title. Vargas absolutely did the right thing. I would have lost respect for him if he had turned down the challenge of his clear number 1 opponent. Vargas's corner could have thrown in the towel at any time to save Vargas from the terrible beating he took. Instead they left him in the fight until the end on the off chance he would win. If you aren't a champion you don't have to fight a killer if you don't want to. A champion can turn down his most dangerous opponent but it's a bad look and many fans rightfully don't like that kind of champion. If Canelo waits for GGG to lose some of his skills from age before fighting him his fans would see through that and lose respect for him. The time for Canelo to fight GGG is now. If he is getting beat up his corner should stop the fight. I think Canelo has the mental toughness to take a loss and still reach his full potential. It's unfortunate for him that he is champion at the same time a monster like GGG is champion but those are the breaks. Who knows, he may surprise you and win the fight. I know that's not likely but if he chickens out of the fight he has no chance to win and every chance of being labeled a cowardly boxer.

I believe the Mexican warrior in Saul Canelo Alvarez will lead him to fight Gennady Golovkin. The fight will be big, it will probably happen on September. Talks between Eric Gomez, Oscar De La Hoya and I have been positive.
