Are we all going to pretend that DiBella and Haymon aren't pleased as peaches with this outcome? There's no way they wanted this fight in the first place, and now they have the perfect excuse to get out of it and set up another Wilder vs. #35 ranked guy type of fight. Of course Povetkin deserves a harsh penalty, and I was rooting for Wilder in the first place, but somehow deep down I knew this fight wouldn't happen.
If they're pleased with the outcome then oh well.
They certainly held up their end of the bargain by travelling overseas and passing all VADA testing. And they didn't force Pussvetkin to cheat and piss dirty, that's all on him.
So it's settled.... Malik Scott: The Rematch. Unfinished Business To Settle! Coming this summer on Showtime. Ha!
Bottom line: Wilder got what he wanted. No way he'd have gotten past Povetkin. And Wilder knows that well. So IOW, bring on the cans again. More no-hopers in Birmingham for Wilder. Exactly what he wants.
That's why they should ALWAYS have a back up fighter waiting and ready to fight. The fans eagerly wait a long time for these fights to happen and when they are cancelled fight week is SUCKS!
They should fly Deontay back to the states and have him fight someone else who is in decent shape. Anyone in the top 20. that way his fans still get to see him fight.
