You're right, Golovkin and his team are pathetic. They've done nothing to earn this fight other than fight 35 MWs, and become Canelo's mandatory opponent for the WBC title. Ironically, that's 35 more MWs than Canelo has fought.
Canelo could take Saunders, but Jacobs isn't a unification because Golovkin owns the "Super" title to that belt. Jacob's is just the regular belt. Regardless, if Saunders is intelligent, he'd decline Canelo's offer, helping to force GGG v Canelo or make Canelo drop the belt. If he does that, then GGG has 3 belts (or Canelo does if he wins Canelo v GGG), and he's an easy MW (for them) to beat. He'd get a career high payday, with enough to retire on, just for turning up. Either GGG or Canelo would be frothing at the mouth to be the unified, uncontested MW champion of the world. It'd essential relight the "true" MW lineal claim (being the man).
If Canelo did vacate, he'd lose lots of fans, who'd seem him as a *****, and his avoidance of GGG would always be a black stain on his resume, for if GGG is such an easy, hyped, no hoper, why did Canelo vacate instead of picking up another 2 or 3 belts?
