The thing for me is that the improvements in technique that he's made won't necessary equate to him winning fights at this point that he wouldn't have won anyway.
Amir's the archetype of a boxer that's been allowed to train to his strengths for the majority of his career. Had he have been with Hunter from the off (or someone like Manny Stewart) then he could have become a real world beater because both of those trainers work on eradicating mistakes and ingraining correct responses.
He doesn't have enough time to eradicate all of the mistakes that he makes because they're already too deeply engrained neurologically through consistent repetition. His improvements sadly may always be negated by his instinctual reactions when he loses focus. He wasn't trained adequately earlier in his career.
At this point the improvements may just make him look better and win a few rounds before he inevitably responds in an instinctive amateurish manner and gets caught with a shot he can't take.
Amir was never outboxed before he was with Hunter. That isn't the problem. At this point the improvements will go some way to compensating for his decline in speed past the midway point of a fight but that's all for me. It's too late in the day for both Amir and Hunter to address the real issue.
