Could Calzaghe have got to 50-0?

He ended his career at 46-0, with back to back wins over HOFers, having spent the better part of a decade clearing out the super middleweight division. If he had carried on boxing post 2008, over the next couple years or so, do you think he could have reached 50-0?

He obviously wouldn't have been at 168 so the Froch, AA and Ward fights seem unlikely, unless Froch moved up, even then I feel Calzaghe (at 36) would beat those versions of those fighters.

Or, if he was to stay at LHW, would there have been a Hopkins rematch? A Pascal fight? Possibly Dawson?

if he fought more cans, then super easy for him to get to 50-0.

if hopkins let his hands go more in the first fight he could have won. maybe in a rematch he wins

His fists would've turned to dust by then. He'd have to cherry pick to hit 50-0.

Agreed, his hands were getting worse but that's a problem he has carried for years, with the proper care, he could have lasted another 2-3 years. That's all he would have needed for those 4 fights.

I reckon he would have beaten Pascal, who had become one of the leading light heavies by 2009/10. Dawson could have been a possibility too but he was huge at the weight and possibly Froch if he got dragged up.

Yes he easily could have gone to 50 and 0. He was a good fighter and not a cherry picker at all. He beat a prime Kessler and Kessler beat Froch. He came to the states to beat both Hopkins and Jones so how in the *** is that being a cherry picker???????????????????????

He wouldn't have made it to 50 without losing. A rematch with Hopkins would have looked like the first six rounds, stretched over 12, with Calzaghe possibly getting stopped late, Hops never had two mediocre outings in a row, and he damn sure wouldn't have brought that empty gas tank into a rematch either. Chad Dawson was also still on top of his game back then. He wouldn't of had much problem with Calzaghe. Too much length, boxing ability and talent back then. Then there is the guy that Calzaghe ducked three times, in Glen Johnson. Yeah, Calzaghe wouldn't have reached 50-0, unless he moved back down to 168, then it may have been possible.

I can imagine Hopkins possibly beating him in a rematch and Dawson's size may have been an advantage but he was never a dogged, tough fighter. Joe certainly was.

But Glen Johnson in 2008 and beyond? That's just plain trolling lol

Glen Johnson around that time was still a formidable fighter. The question was asked would Calzaghe have made it to 50 and 0. He had moved up to lightheavyweight. Several guys around would have given him issues. Tarver was still around as well. Hopkins, Dawson, Tarver, and Johnson were definitely a more rugged group than anything he had faced at 168.

Calzaghe arguably drew with Bika, he was going to lose to the elite of the SMW division. Kessler's hand was injured prior to their bout, and had surgery after their bout which postponed his career by a year.

I can understand mentioning Hopkins and Dawson, for various reasons but Johnson? The **** is Johnson gonna do against Calzaghe, who probably would have been one of the top 3 opponents he ever faced?
