Will Amir Khan be the same fighter after this brutal KO?

I'd say it would actually be BETTER if Khan's chin was the problem here. I think he showed early on, that he could take Canelo's shots.
What's pathetic, is that Khan didn't even see that punch coming. They had to know Canelo would throw that combination at some point.
This isn't like when Mosley surprised Floyd with it, in round 2 of their fight. Floyd was caught off guard by Shane's body attack.
Khan and Virgil Hunter had to know this was coming. Yet there Khan was, throwing a left hook after biting on the feint.
I've landed this combination many times on people in sparring.......but Khan is a pro for crying out loud!Comment

Watching it I felt Khan got a little too comfortable and when Canelo started winning the round Khan felt he had to answer back instead of just sticking to moving even if losing the round. Your right mayweather beat him standing in front of Canelo saying he ran is a common misconceptionI think the gameplan was to stick and move. That came to an abrupt halt when Canelo started landing those body shots, though. And on the inside, Khan has zero anticipation. And never has. How he bit on that feint is beyond me. What's worse? He got hit AS he was was throwing a left hook. He not only bit on the feint, he actually got *beaten to the punch* as well!
Khan is still too preoccupied with what he's doing. And he always will be. He'll never operate well on the inside, because his defense sucks. He'd be able to get away with it, if he could take a shot, but he can't.
This just makes Floyd's win over Canelo even more impressive. Not only did he beat Canelo, he beat Canelo on the inside. Lara gave Canelo problems by jabbing and moving, but Floyd beat him right in the center of the ring.
Even the biggest Floyd hater has got to appreciate that defensive skill. If you don't, you probably shouldn't watch boxing.Comment

That's the problem he didn't even do that. He would throw a 3 punch combo but not move his feet or head. Too easy to time.I think the gameplan was to stick and move. He should skip the combos and just use the 1 2's and move. Not stand thereLast edited by Najeem; 05-08-2016, 01:17 AM.Comment

I think Canelo's body shots just slowed him to a dead stop. Truthfully, I thought Khan did very well in round 1 and 2. He landed some flush shots, and moved very well. Had he stuck that gameplan, he may have pulled it off. He was just taking too many body shots. He should have ran like Lara, and hoped to God that Canelo would tire.Watching it I felt Khan got a little too comfortable and when Canelo started winning the round Khan felt he had to answer back instead of just sticking to moving even if losing the round. Jab, jab, jab, move, move, move. He should have fought like SRL against Tommy Hearns in their first fight. Tons of lateral movement, and the odd flurry.
But Khan has never been that kinda' fighter. He's always relied wayyy too heavily on his handspeed, and often times neglected moving his head and his feet.Comment

Yes. At least for the first half of the fight. The last thing he wanted was a fresh Canelo landing a bomb on him. Hell, even those body shots were too much offense for Canelo. He was far too stationary after round 2, and the body shots didn't help.Comment

True enough I wasn't too worried about some of the body shots though I thought he anticipated them well but Canelo started putting better pressure on Khan and then Boom was overI think Canelo's body shots just slowed him to a dead stop. The haters cant see what Floyd is doing they just think he is lucky or the other guy was no good had something wrong with him , greatness is only for fools to see when its knocking heads off , other than that the fools are as blind as bats .I think the gameplan was to stick and move. Well Canelo was starting to close the distance in round 3, which led to the body shots, which led to the feint........which led to Khan getting laid out. It's pretty obvious, that that was their entire gameplan.
What's pathetic though, is that if Khan were an even half-way compatent defensive fighter, he could have off-set a lot of that.
I mean, let's face it: This wasn't exactly offensive brilliance on the part of Canelo. Truth be told, he's very plodding, and predictable.
If he fights like that against GGG, he'll most likely have problems. Although I gotta admit: He did use a nice jab, and cracked to the body on the inside. He wasn't really moving his head too much, and since he was able to continually move forward, he was fine.
It'll be interesting to see how Canelo does when he is backed up, and I think GGG might just be the man to do that.Comment
