If Chavez had retired at 87-0 he would have shattered the 49-0 record of Mayweather and Marciano and that's a fact. There is not dis*****g this or getting around it. That's why the record is overrated. If Mayweather comes back and loses he also loses the record. He won't be any less of an all time great and his achievements remain the same but he can kiss the record good by. Was Chavez suddenly less great when he fought past his prime and 87-0 and lost a few? Your overall record and who you beat and how you beat them should matter more than a long winning streak. That little badass Gonzalez might very well break 49-0.
Kellerman Taking The Pisss...''50-0 is not a thing, Chavez was 87-0..''

The only issue with your analogy is that you didnt subtract the 15 bums Mayweather fought as a pro. So it would be 48-0 to 34-0 going by your standards which will still make Chavez record the better one.87-0 with 43 cans in the beginning. Floyd had 90 amateur fights alone, that's where he fought some of his cans.
If you start Chavez Sr with his first decent opponent, I would say Adriano Arreola looks okay, all the way up to Terrance Ali that puts Chavez at still an excellent 48-0 before losing. But not quite Floyd status either, due to the lack of names.Comment

Yeah Kellerman is right, 87-0 don't mean nothing when you haven't fight nobody....Floyd's 49-0 is a much greater accomplishment considering the number of wins over quality opposition.Comment

No they wouldnt...those fighters he fought in Mexico were literally club fighters
in his 1st 25 fights-10 were against fighters making their pro debut and 10 were against fighters with losing records
in his next 25 fights 9 were against fighters with losing records or .500 and 1 was making his pro debut
in his 50th fight he fought a guy who was 1-15
in his 66th fight he fought a guy who was 0-1
70th fight fought a guy who was 5-3
71st fight fought a guy who was 4-3-1
78th fight fought a guy who was 6-2
so out of 87 fights 30 were against fighters with a losing record or making a pro debut and 3 were against beginning cab drivers
and there were alot of other no hopers on his resume to reach 87-0Comment
