Because Jacobs and Lara are seemingly on parallel tracks at the moment (Lara, well on his way as establishing himself as the best 154 fighter on the planet, and Jacobs just emerging as a top 3 middleweight in his own right).

If Jermell(WBC 154) and Jermall(IBF 154) win their fights, and Lara(WBA super 154) wins his fight, the Plex Gym camp would be home to 3 of the 4 154 titlist at the weight; Lara still has potential fights with Andrade, JRock, and Soro before the options narrow down to guys in his own camp (Erickson Lubin likely hangs around as the next major threat for a bit).

Daniel Jacobs is basically on the cusp of fighting Golovkin next (timing on things being different now; now with 30 days after the fight instead of 15 days, Canelo can stall the vacate decision to early June, with the WBA making Jacobs their mandatory challenger by mid-June at the latest, pushing the purse bid off until early July, for a fight that would then be staged for September, if Golovkin was really serious about that "I want all of the middleweight belts" nonsense). Beyond that, if Golovkin does vacate the belt (as I'm starting to expect), Jacobs is settling into his home at Barclays Center, with a decent list of middleweight fights to work through; Quillin/Mora rematches, Andy Lee, Avtandil Khurtsidze(guy who throttled Antoine Douglas; based in Brooklyn), Billy Joe Saunders, Hassan N'Dam, Willie Monroe Jr (fight would be whatever, but Monroe is also a New York-based fighter), and Chris Eubank Jr to begin with.

Golovkin needs to fight someone worth fighting, and he needs to do so soon (if he gets thrown in with another can, especially after this push from the general audience about how good a fighter he's supposed to be, the goodwill is going to leave real quick). Fighting Lara gives Golovkin that legit guy.

I say go after Jacobs, then GGG, then go for the rematch!
And I wouldn't want to see that rematch. He called Canelo out right after he fought. Talked soo much sht how he was going to DESTROY Canelo. Knock him out. Take his head off... And then he RAN!!! He didn't even engage he turned around and Ran from corner to corner. He probably would of beat Canelo if he tried to even remotely fight. For being much faster then Canelo is connect % was dog sht. And how the HELL does a slick boxer land almost the same amount of punches against a slow plodder??? Who can't even cut the ring off... Lara LOST the fight. I know he was probably pissing blood from some of those NASTY body punches Canelo landed. Can't remember what round maybe 5 or 6 but Canelo landed a vicious body shot that shook the ring and in between the rounds Lara looked like he was going to cry.

Really don't know why GG people don't see the entertainment potential of this fight.

Casuals hate runners, potshotters who keep on disengaging in a fight. You see them jumping up and down when they see the runner finally gets caught on the ropes and being pounded on the side of the body. You don't even have to take my word for it. You saw it in the Angulo fight. You saw it in the Maidana/Floyd.

It may not be as big as the Canelo/GG, but it's still huge. HBO should be alerted about the entertainment value of this fight.

This fight HAS to happen. Do it in September or November of this year.

Why does GGG fans ALWAYS say that??? Ggg has KO'd every BUM he's fought and they all seemed to been fine getting out of the ring on their own. Lemuix is fighting Saturday so I guess he recovered I. Record time from his CAREER ending KO lol

So HBO was interested in Willie Monroe Jr? gtfoh; as long as Golovkin is fighting, HBO wouldn't care if Cris Cyborg was the FN opponent.

K2 is now at the point where the payouts for their televised Golovkin cards (with HBO assumedly providing most of the money) are approaching $3m. With Roman Gonzalez seemingly heading for his own shows, K2 has the money to bring in most possible opponents for Golovkin.

They simply don't have the confidence in their 34-year old fighter to put him in there with anyone that isn't either inexperienced or just vanilla as a fighter. Lara derails the hype machine and everyone knows it (whether HBO lets Lara walk out with the decision, Lara demystifies the wrecking machine and makes him look basic.

Golovkin/Lara has been well marinated, time to do it. GGG KO's Jacobs, Saunders, and Lara all within 8 rounds each, line 'em up!

I just want to see GGG against someone that doesn't just come forward with ZERO head movement. The fighters that I saw give GGG the biggest problems was slick southpaws. If he KO'd Lara and made it look easy Canelo better retire...But that fight will never happen. I have a felling his next fight if it's not Canelo will be Jorge Heiland or another TERRIBLE BUM. Maybe Gran Tureno with Clint Eastwood as the ref. The MW division is DOG SHT. Outside of Canelo and GGG. And Cotto. Not one other one is worth PPV $. Need to do a mini MW tournament to get ride of the shty Peter Wades and Heillands

It also would he the 1st legit Pound For Pound Top #20 guys GGG has EVER fought! Heck Murray was probably the highest ranked one. I believe someone said he was around #75???

I would buy that fight in a heartbeat.
