I'm fluent in two languages; I consider my learning ability for languages the greatest talent I have. I'd love to learn a third, one day. There's nothing more powerful than the ability to communicate. With the twists and turns my life has taken, I'll probably never be able to use that talent (career-wise) again, yet I still want to keep it. Looking back on everything, I realize that there were so many people who couldn't believe that I was fluent in Spanish and yet sounded "presidential" or like an "announcer" in English. I've been in the exact situation the other way around, too. It's something else.

Most of the time, it automatically sets you aside as a target, and the first thing people do is try to make you look bad, somehow. I reckon it's like when Rihanna held the microphone toward a fan and was shocked to hear he could sing. She immediately pulled it away. I've had people proceed to give me incorrect instructions multiple times in what were probably weak attempts to make me look less fluent in front of others. Strangely, when the opposite happens, and it pulls someone toward you, that's also a negative. They, for the most part, want to use you for political purposes. Despite all this, however, you inevitably come to respect the power of language and understand why that happens. It becomes a hidden power, in a way.

If Golovkin speaks four languages, then that's quite impressive. Sure, he may not be fluent in English, but that's still a feat. It's something to envy, really. Having the basics set like that--the language waiting to be fully learned. He's past the biggest hurdle. And, undoubtedly, the way he currently speaks English has contributed to his rise.

That whole "good boy" incident was a blessing in disguise, if you think about it. He spoke well enough to be understood, but still in a way that was endearingly comical toward fans. There are still people around today bringing that up, and it'll inevitably become a part of his legacy in boxing--a trademark, if you will. He went from unknown Kazakh power-puncher to "GGG," just like that.

      That's power.

What's this got to do with anything? If you move to a foreign country you're going to pick up the language.

He speaks barely A2 level English, I'd say A1, and I don't think his German is any better.
A1 means you talk much less English than Dora the Explorer teaches you.

Is this another reason for the hate?

In the meantime, other stars are being fooled in the media because they can't read to save their lives.
            Ok...

Lucky it's not a language or reading contest then isn't it?

He's clearly an intelligent guy. Mayweather can hardly read or write in his own native language
