Trout won that fight. Canelo gassed and wasn't busy enough to win.

Thought Canelo won decisively based on his clean effective hard punches
Trout was pitty patting most the time and Canelo countered effectively, Canelo lost rounds because he has a tendency to take breaks and fights in spurts

His lack of picking up his feet is very deceiving. Why? Because he is a very good defensive fighter, with good upper body and head movement. My guess is, he can pick up his feet if he wanted to. Trout fights like a brave punk if that makes sense? His style is tentative and he wastes a lot of shots because of his lack of power. He has a good chin and is difficult to KO. He is BIG but punky. Only a hater would said that Canelo didn't win CLEARLY. Canelo has a lot of haters on here. It's okay. He is just going to keep improving, fighting exciting fights and winning. He is a B+ Level fighter right now and is still peaking. The only thing I'd like to see from him going forward, is to throw more punches. In big, big fights you have to let your hands go. He did it against Lara and it's why he won that fight. He also did it against Angulo and Kirkland. So, every since the Floyd fight, he has been on FIRE.

Not decisive at all. It was a very close fight. I had Canelo up by one point because of the knockdown. The open scoring with ridiculously wide scorecards after 8 rounds completely changed the end of the fight.

            8 rounds to 4, plus a knockdown.

Close but clear...if it wasn't Canelo, there would be no 'controversy'.

It was a fight in which Trout was trying to win purely on work rate. Canelo did all the clean work, was much better defensively and landed all the best punches.

I don't think work rate is enough when the other guy does all the better work.

The scorecards were filled out before the fight started...it was closer to a draw than what they scored it... And open scoring is fking ridiculous

I agree with this scoring and logic. Trout did not win that fight. No way.

Now, Canelo/Lara? TO me Lara clearly got robbed.

I had Trout winning, but 115-112 either way was acceptable.

If Canelo didn't have thousands of fans behind him in every fight he wouldn't get away with his inactivity. But he does and the reaction on those few occasions he does something in a round is remembered by the judges.

He didn't beat Trout convincingly at all.

It was close but Canelo won. Those scores were bad. It was open scoring so we could see the judges trying to rob Trout in real time.

As I can recall, the fight was staged in San Antonio, Texas. It was also a very controversial fight because it was open scoring and aside from the Alvarez knockdown of Trout, Canelo was very inactive because he knew he was up big on the scorecards in the fight.

Austin for the most part was the more active of the two which had the majority of boxing fans declaring him the winner of the fight but just wasn't landing anything effective as far as punches were concerned.
