The problem with Loma, is I fear he stuck around in the amateurs too long. He really does not sit down on his punches, so certain guys will be able to walk through his punches and make it interesting. He still does some things in the ring that amazes me. He does some things that I have not seen other fighters do. He is definitely crafty.

floyd was at 140 and fighting gatti when he was 28, he was several levels above what loma is today skill wise. great for loma he won two medals but he would have done himself better to turn pro earlier if he wanted to develop more like you said

You can't say floyd would have beat salido in his 1st pro fight...there's a reason floyd and 99% of fighters get fed soft opponents early on. Loma should be respected for the willingness to face opposition like that early in his career.

There is no substitute for pro experience...and win or lose loma probably took more away from the salido fight than floyd took from his first 10 fights. I'm not agreeing that he's somehow greater than floyd but his path has been different and refreshing. I just hope he doesn't lose momentum.
