This fight doesn't need to build. Canelo isn't the huge superstar they think he is and GGG isn't either.

Canelo IS a big name but he's most well known for losing to Floyd, lets be fair. He is not going to get any more famous and more popular now until he beats a great opponent where he's basically an underdog or it's a 50/50 fight. Even the Cotto fight didn't do anything for him because he was expected to win. There's literally nobody else at 154/160 that gives him that platform again to prove himself.

GGG is fairly popular, but everyone who needs to know about GGG already knows about him. His popularity will continue to plateau from now until he beats a big name. The only one around his weight class is Canelo.

Until these guys fight each other, their popularity will plateau at best, or decline. Anybody that would be interested already knows who these two are. There's nobody else out there for each other at their weight class they can fight that will allow them to build on their current popularity, apart from each other.

I agree with this....Canelo and GGG need each other. Canelo is not that big as they think. He cant just fight anybody on PPV and it will sell...not too long ago he was still fighting on reg. HBO....something real stars like Floyd/Manny never did anymore.

I think you'Re missing the bigger picture of the Mexican fanbase, and I'm sure you will agree with what I'm about to say. First off, Canelo is the second biggest name after Juan Manual Marquez in Mexico, however, Nelo is now the replacement image. Mexicans are very rugid and determined boxers, and their legacies have shown they love to go the distance and brawl, therefore, since Mayweather did a teaching to both Marquez and Nelo, the Mexican fans aren't tainted by it, but I agree with you Nelo has a ways to go. The kid is only 25... and will most likely move to 168 one day looking like Vinny Paz against Roy Jones Jr..

As far as Lil'G and as long as Loeffler is around, his career is just garbage. Includes Sanchez. Those guys have been in the limelight for so long they forget it isn't a game for the boxing purists.. They have HBO, Apple, Jordan, god knows what else....they act like they never have money. I'Ve said it since the beginning. Tall skilled Southpaws are the ones they particularly avoid... they could've offered Lee serious loot assuming ''I'm good with Al'' as Loeffler stated. And people forgot that there was a supposed initial cancellation because Lil'G's father died.... nobody nor industry ever even mentioned a continuance for it.... ALL LIES by Loeffler and Sanchez. Clownage
