Religion is a brutal practice, which is used to enslave the minds of it's victims.
In some cases, yes, but not all cases. The world is a harsh place, filled with evil people. That doesn't mean there isn't a God. Christ spoke against those people who use religion for personal gain and control of others.

In most cases, not "some cases"

The Romans massacred all the pagan religions in the UK and forced Christianity on to us. To this very day we don't know what these pagan religions were because the Romans destroyed all the scriptures and artifacts. We are missing a big part of our history because of Christianity.

All the special occasions we celebrate be it Christmas, Easter, or Halloween, were all pagan days of celebrations which was replaced by Christian occasions to further brainwash the masses.

Jesus was depicted as a long haired white hippy to make masses believe he was just like them...when in reality if this so called Jesus ever existed he'd probably have been a midget middle eastern fella.

Religion is spread via lie's and violence....

Don't worry, if there is God & Jesus (as I believe), They'll speak for themselves someday. Meanwhile, back to boxing! Cheers!

          Well said.

Anyway religion is the biggest brainwashing and form of control their is/was. Long before we existed, religion was the biggest way to keep people in order, put the fear of god into them. Over time, more and more people have become less religious and found it ridiculous. Now we use other ways to control people, such as debt, consumerism etc. That's why in poorer areas of the world, Religion is still a huge part of their culture. In more wealthy countries, you can control people by brainwashing them into being consumers and steer them into potential debt, so you can control them and also get richer off them at the same time, 2 birds with 1 stone, control and greed at once, those are the two main things. Even doing this what we're doing now, being online and having all this technology is a form of control. It's all a distraction from reality, but we like to feel entertained so we do it.

I do believe in some kind of creation, but religion is a different thing. Religion is simply an old form of control that somehow still exists today. It's a totally backwards concept.

A survey of scientists who are members of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press in May and June 2009, finds that members of this group are, on the whole, much less religious than the general public.1 Indeed, the survey shows that scientists are roughly half as likely as the general public to believe in God or a higher power. According to the poll, just over half of scientists (51%) believe in some form of deity or higher power; specifically, 33% of scientists say they believe in God, while 18% believe in a universal spirit or higher power. By contrast, 95% of Americans believe in some form of deity or higher power, according to a survey of the general public conducted by the Pew Research Center in July 2006. Specifically, more than eight-in-ten Americans (83%) say they believe in God and 12% believe in a universal spirit or higher power. Finally, the poll of scientists finds that four-in-ten scientists (41%) say they do not believe in God or a higher power, while the poll of the public finds that only 4% of Americans share this view.

It doesn't surprise me. As i said, I believe in creation and a higher power, but not religion. It's 2 separate things completely.

The point is, less people today follow religion strictly to the scriptures compared to hundreds of years ago.

Yes but do realize that only 18% believe in the higher power while 33% believe in God. If you read some of their biographies you'll notice it was the proof in science that converted them to Christians and all scientist agree the Christian religion is the only one that can stand up to science.

Yeah, but my point was that a lot less people actually live their life by the guidance of the scriptures these days, compared to in the past, especially in the western world or "westernised" countries, regardless of what their belief is whether it be god or a higher power. I'm talking about religion being a big part of peoples every day life and their actions. It's less than it once was.
