Oh yeah, and way to spin Roy Jones words LOL
years ago, is someone bound to their statements for life?

Fact is if Mayweather thought he could beat canelo at 154 he would have.

Theirs a few videos with nate jones when he left mayweather boxing to start his own gym and he says that draining canelo was pretty much the game plan and when we saw him on stage for the weigh in we knew it worked.

That fight was won for mayweather on the stipulations he put on canelo.

Simple as that mayweather is a good fighter I like him (I talk shit cause too many here have some **** love for the dude) I just wish mayweather didnt always take the bitch route in his fight, waiting fighters out, purchasing advantages, weight draining fighters.

Mayweather himself admit he done all these things which shocks me when hes own fans cant.

Mayweather himself says hes not TBE in the ring but TBE in the fighting game, the business of boxing. He knows he leverage all of his power to strip his oppenents of pretty much the chances to win.

smh....people like that try to discredit fighters they dont like,.....oh well....Canelo was far from green with that much experience.

Also you made a good example.....was Hearns green when Leonard beat him just to add to your point.

these are great wins on their resume but we wanna call Canelo green? and Mosley was 38 right?? but we refuse to gove Floyd credit for being on top at 38...see the double standards here?

Nelo is green cos he never fought anyone and just wasdnt any good when Floyd beat him! Ifhe was good the average boxing fan would have considered him top 10 PFP at least. Its doubtful in reality if he was top20 even. He literally hadn't beaten anyone in 40 fights. A green srl is better than nelo is now or nelo ever will be. A green benitez is better than nelo will ever be
Nelo was struggling and making hard work with the hattons and Gomez of this world, little guys. Nelo just wasn't that good wasn't proven, never beat anyone any good convincingly
He was bigger than Floyd, so that was interesting but then he asks cw?

I've hear that so many times in real life. NOBODY said this before the fight but that's the narrative now. I suppose people have a hard time calling him washed up or a bum after he lost to Floyd, therfore he was handpicked by Mayweather due to his greeness.

Just admit Mayweather is a better fighter than Canelo ever could be.
Mayweather is a better fighter than Canelo could ever be. Few would disagree with that.

But also, Canelo was green at a world class level and moved down to 152 to fight him. This is the context in which the fight happened.

No one discredits Duran's win over Leonard because Leonard was 23 years old and only fought pro for 4 years. No one makes excuses for Tyson for losing to Douglas at 23 years old while being pro for five years. So why make excuses for Canelo who had been a professional for EIGHT years by calling him green?
I'd say Leonard's resume at that point was deeper than Canelo's was going into the Mayweather fight though.

I take it you don't talk to many Mike Tyson fans. Plenty of people make excuses for him. But even if they did not I'd say Tyson's resume at that point was deeper than Canelo's was going into the Mayweather fight. 91s KO Spinks > competitive fight with Trout. And unlike Canelo, he wasn't stepping up to a challenge with which it really mattered whether he was green or not.

At the time Floyd fought Canelo, he was 22 going on 23 with a record of 42-0-1 and had been a professional 8 years. If you have done anything in your life for 8 years absolutely no one would call that being "green". Canelo had also competed in two divisions and was the WBC light middleweight champion.
True, but he never fought as an amateur.

This logic is even worse considering the fact that Mayweather was pushing 40 and had been a semi active fighter himself when he beat Canelo.
Can't argue with that. This doesn't mean Canelo wasn't green, just means that the timing wasn't ideal for either. The reality is that some fights, like this one, could never have realistically been made at a time that was ideal for both fighters. There is nothing wrong with that, it was still a great win, but it's not untrue to point those things out.

TLDR: I don't think Canelo lost because he was green, but I did think he was not very experienced yet against solid opposition.
