  • If GGG retired today, how would he remembered? (If at all)

Personally I think he'd be the guy who ducked all the top challenges and achieved a KO record in MW history but no real substance
When Willie Monroe is your best opponent and he almost beats you then what does that say about your legacy?
He needs to move up in weight or just go down and fight canelo. Im sure he can lose a few pounds, he looked like 'fat bast*rd' from Austin Powers against Wade.

    Disgraceful...

He'd be remembered as the boxer who made Canelo's fans scared as **** and make 1000 threads of him.

IMO he wouldn't make the HOF if he retired today but he has been a TV sensation the last few years. I think fans would say he was a very good amateur and dominant fan favorite as a pro that never proved himself against the best. The fact so many MW's wouldn't fight him would be part of his legacy.

One of the sport's biggest underachiever, and I say that because I feel he's that good.

He'd be remembered for what could have been more than for what he actually achieved. He'd be largely forgotten by the casuals within a few years. Touch and go if he'd make HOF maybe he would - he has had a long title reign. maybe people would point to him as an example of wasted potential, the bad points of boxing politics and shockingly bad management in his early career.

Interesting, ward aside which other top challenges did he duck? How did Monroe almost beat him exactly?

I agree with this, especially the bold. Casual fans wouldn't care almost immediately, from what I have seen he hasn't really captured a casual audience. Actual fans that follow and appreciate the sport will remember him for a number of years I would imagine, but only fondly of what he could, or indeed 'should', have done.

Also a part of his memory (not his 'legacy', but his immediate memory if he was to go now) would be connected to not fighting Canelo despite the controversy, which is a negative as well.

GGG if he left now would not leave too big of an impact years down the line. He is hot right now, but him leaving now is way too soon...There is potential for a whole lot more and it would be a shame to see someone be remembered mainly for that.
