I was hoping this thread would've been a bit more positive but instead it descended into **** as usual. Then again, it wouldn't be NSB if it didn't.
My point is that I think Ward needs more preparation in the way of fights @ LHW before fighting Kovalev.

only took 5 years from the froch fight for him to try and fight a top fighter. not even to get a top fight, i'm talking try to fight a top fighter. something ggg does every single time he tries to get a fight but he's a coward? 5 year benefit of the doubt and the fight still might not happen. ward knows his chin is shaky and kovalev could end him. only when ward is ko'd will he get the credit you speak of.

Dude won gold at light heavyweight. He didn't need to acclimate to anything, especially when his last two fights were in the light heavyweight division.

He did win gold... In 2004. He then spent the next 10 odd years at SMW. It takes time to get back up to size and feeling comfortable fighting bigger opposition again.

The fight is signed and going ahead, so what's the issue?

I didnt make the thread, you did. As if hes doing something unheard of. Kovalev will be his third fight in a row at light heavyweight. Hes doing what hes supposed to do. So whats the big deal here?

The only reason he fought at light heavyweight was because he agreed to move up in order to make room on the U.S. team for Andre Dirrell.

Middleweight was his natural weight class.
