Comments Thread For: Berchelt Offered Cruz, Martinez-Lomachenko Questions Remain

Event handlers are planning a formal announcement for Vasyl Lomachenko's debut as an HBO headliner, as he faces Puerto Rico's Roman Martinez atop a June 11 doubleheader at Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York City. A press conference is due to take place this Thursday on MSG grounds, but the billing of the main event serving as a title fight remains in question.

Not if you're more concerned with getting the title shot that you've earned, rather than ****ing around with pondering a step-aside package.

Berchelt is supposed to get a title shot, he's insisting on getting his shot, and his promoter is backing him the whole way.

Arum talked his way into something that he couldn't deliver; Martinez isn't going to give up his belt to make a fight for Arum, so Bob better be ready to pony up that extra money to get Walters.

Scipio2009 Bro your just trying to get this fight screwed up just so u can gloat that something didnt go arums way. Theyre literally giving berchalt an easy fight and step aside money. Walters ducked simple as that.

I think the real issue is that if Lomachenko wins (he will) and keeps the belt (he might),Berchelt has to fight him for the belt and gets his ass kicked. But if Berchelt would have got the Martinez shot he was due, he probably feels he would have won that one and then really cashed in as champ. If Lomachenko wins but he vacates, Berchelt and Salido probably fight for the title, maybe not a lot of money in that. He's really in a complicated spot.

He definitely shouldn't take the Cruz fight. He'll get step aside money if he waits, but if he loses to Cruz, he loses the interim title and his title shot/payday. He can sit on the step aside money and wait and see if he faces Lomachenko, Salido, or Martinez (fat chance).

Honestly if he cant beat Cruz than chances are he cant beat Martinez neither.

Tough choice either way. Make extra money and lose to Loma or force the mandatory win the title and then lose to Loma.

If he won't come out of Merida for a "faded Cruz" nothing will get him out of there. He doesn't want to **** around getting a title? Lawyering up is ****ing around.

It's an insult and Berchelt doesn't see it. They offered him Orlando, like that's all he can handle. It's as if they're asking him to travel for a soft touch. I can see the headlines. Martinez wouldn't go to Mexico for Berchelt, but Berchelt wouldn't go to NY for Orlando. Which is worse?
