Kovalev didn't have an HBO deal when the WBC purse bid was announced. HBO had a right of first refusal to his next fight. Meaning they could've said yay or nay to Mohammedi. But that's the past. So why did HBO turn down the joint PPV with Showtime and turn around and refuse Kovalev's next fight? He's fighting Ward his next fight. You'd think HBO would want as much exposure for Kovalev and Ward as possible. So they're cutting off their nose to spite their face? This is shaping up to be another GGG-Lemieux situation. Lemieux fought on Fox Sport 2 before the GGG PPV.

I blame both sides, at one time or another, this fight isn't happening. I'm just looking forward to Kov vs Ward later this year & Stevenson vs Rodriguez this summer & maybe in 2017 these two can fight.

he was offered the fight when they were still new unsure things.

Sergey Kovalev never missed a momemt to make his audience believe he wants to unify all 4 major belts, but it seems like Duva & Klimas didn't find any opponent to persuade top Russia promoter Ryabinsky, thus Adonis Stevenson is still the WBC champion, still available and almost 40, not to mention Al Haymon recently loss Wilder's purse bid to Andrei Ryabinsky.

Kathy Duva already rejected the 3 last WBC purse bid, rejected the joint PPV idea; but clearly specified since August 2015 if the Kovalev/Stevenson fight is held in Russia, they will be in a position to bid. Not to mention Kovalev still hold that WBC Diamond belt.

Thus according to her words, now is it not the right time to bid?
