    September 16, 2016:

"Little G' turned down an official fight with us," Ward told the reporter. "The reality is for all the talk ... the proof is in the pudding. I have an email right now that shows we gave them what they want ... 50/50 ... and the man -- the promoter --turned it down, said maybe 2017."

Quickly after the video was posted, Golovkin's Los Angeles-based promoter Tom Loeffler called The Times to refute that version of events, stressing he wanted to clarify the "context" of his rejection.

Loeffler said the email from an official of Ward’s promoter, Roc Nation Sports, extends a 50/50 purse-split offer to fight in 2016 after each fighter took one fight earlier in the year.

"It would’ve been a bad deal to take," Loeffler said...

"If you don’t want to fight a fighter, think it’s not your style, just say that," Ward said on the video. "The truth is, they never wanted the fight. The reality is we offered him a fight six, seven months ago, before we knew he had a pay-per-view coming up ... 50%. He turned it down in five minutes. The short and long of it is they never wanted the fight."

Maybe, just maybe, if Chavez Jr comes back with a pair of good wins, that fight would make sense...
Why no catch-weight for Chavez Jr.?

Then Bob did his normal extension BS. And said take the extension and $7 with Rematch $5 million. Or fight for $2 million and a huge hit to PPV money he usually got. He bet on himself and LOST! If he wasn't so damn lazy this would of been a good move... Al was in his ear offering him huge cash. But the dumbfk is too ******. ****** and lazy not a good combination.
His stock took a big hit. Lost to Vera, KO'ed by Fonfara, barely beat Marcos Reyes despite a considerable weight advantage. I bet $7 million is looking like a greasy burger right about now.

the only positive about this fight is that we'll finally see GGG against someone who won't fold like a wet cardboard box when they get hit by him. But skill wise there's no way Chavez wins unless he lands a big shot, which considering the weight difference is always a possibility. I know Canelo and Oscar are praying hard that GGG moves up to 68 same way GGG and Loeffler were praying Ward moved up to 75.

Ward did have promotional issues, but if you read the article, this was an offer when Ward was with Roc Nation, 50/50, and K2 rejected it because they wanted to fight Lemiuex, which led to the Cotto vs. Canelo winner. Smart move from a "business man." I'm not mad at him, but he "rejected" a 50/50 offer from Roc Nation. Fighting Chavez Jr. @ 168 is another good "business" move! Why no catch-weight (164) for Chavez Jr.???

When he was with roc nation? So his first fight after a long layoff would have been Golovkin? haha if so then its laughable for him to think he had any leverage on golovking to be making a fight on his own terms. mr. i need 3 tune ups to get ready. Yeah it is a smart move he's making money selling out arena's and staying active while ward cant even make 168 and is now gonna get his ass kicked by kovalev. Stay salty
