money wise i think the chavez fight does good numbers. We know that all those guys will come up with something to not fight GGG. And i dont think people would want to turn down the opportunity to see chavez get his ass kicked again

Those are better options in terms of legacy, but the media bump he'd get off a show with Chavez would make those other fighters easier to make afterwards.

I'm to the point where if Canelo refuses and is stripped, Golovkin should go ahead and make the move to 68. At least there he can entertain fights from bigger guys where we would see better competition for him, nobody at 160 can beat this guy so time to move up.

Chavez if he could make 68, and make the fight with GGG, might be a fun fight for fans. Not sure about PPV..

If Canelo drops the strap I think GGG should make a last ditch effort to unify. Throw Big £s at Saunders and make serious efforts to get Jacobs in the ring. Then move up without a doubt. Personally I would have liked him to start feeling out SMW after the Murray fight - at that point I felt it was already clear he wasn't going to be beaten at 160 - but can't really blame the guy for doing the unification thing, SMWs hardly full of high profile big money fights either.

idk about that, Gatti was loved by everyone win or lose, the Chavez hype died down a ton since Fonfara and I don't think that many people give a **** about him anymore and people view him as a joke whereas Gatti was always viewed as a warrior. I could be wrong though, just my observation. I think the window passed (the perfect time was when they were scheduled to fight pre-Fonfara).

A Golovkin/Chavez fight might have a lot of synergy. Chavez hasn't had a big name opponent since Martinez. I think if he was matched against a popular fighter like Golovkin who's linked to Alvarez, the Mexican media would catch fire.

It was originally setup for him to make around $5 million. And he agreed to GGG. $1mill per /lb penalty that was asked much later after they agreed. And he would of been a Free agent. Then Bob did his normal extension BS. And said take the extension and $7 with Rematch $5 million. Or fight for $2 million and a huge hit to PPV money he usually got. He bet on himself and LOST! If he wasn't so damn lazy this would of been a good move... Al was in his ear offering him huge cash. But the dumbfk is too ******. ****** and lazy not a good combination.

K2 keeps saying "if Canelo refuses, he's going to take a lot of heat." However, if GGG fights Chavez Jr. @ 168, but he said Ward @ 164, "he's going to take a lot of heat."

I see the same....the chavez jr fight lost all credibility when Fonfara stopped him...now he is a piece of trash not worth the effort.

Maybe, just maybe, if Chavez Jr comes back with a pair of good wins, that fight would make sense...
