Because they had other names they wanted to bring.
They wanted Froch, they wanted Abraham whom they brought up from 160, they wanted Kessler. They thought these were bigger european names at the time than Bute.

WHen the tournament was made many reporters asked Hershman why Bute was left out. He said he had other names.

But in trying to rectify his error, he signed him to an exclusive 3 fight deal close to the end of the S6 and set him up to fight the winner of the tournament.

The Super Six launched Ward in the US, Carl Froch in the UK, and Arthur Abraham in Germany. HBO would've likely still tried to poach things with their pocketbook, but do you honestly believe that Showtime wouldn't have enjoyed helping turn Bute into a PPV star in Canada? lol

Being in the tournament, whether the guy won or lost their fight, helped elevate the profiles of all of the guys who made it through the tournament, ****ing idiot.

If you had a source for that Hershman statement, it'd be greatly appreciated; not saying that I think that you're lying, just think that having Bute in the tournament over Jermain Taylor would've made for a better tournament.

Jermaine was invited because of his name.
At the time much better known than Bute.

You also have to remember (if you were a fan back then) that Bute had that crazy 12th round against Andrade, in which many thought Andrade KOd Bute, but the ref f**d up.
This could have been a reason added to why they decided to go with the other guys for the S6.

My point is Bute was not invited. This is a fact! Even if it doesn't make sense to you, it doesn't change the fact he wasn't invited.

Golovkin sold ~5k $30 tickets, and the current viewership numbers aren't even all that much beyond Ward's current number (openly ignoring the layoff); there's no need to overstate Golovkin's "profile".

When given the chance to give folks an idea of where his "profile" actually was, he flopped with a PPV that did 100k buys. Ignore that if you want.
It's still 100k more than Ward ever did right? oh cool you know the whole seating chart and layout of the prices lol...what was wards? What he sell ? 8,000 tickets?

Ward is a B side to GGG...that's all there is to it...is he the better fighter? No...
